Used to be easier, better

This app used to be great but in an attempt to add stuff or spruce it up you’ve made it worse. There’s no need to have the ability to add things to the catalog at the bottom while you’re shopping. That all was best on the main first catalog screen when you’re at home composing your list, not when you are out shopping. Also, you used to be able to easily clear part of your list as you cross things off. It made viewing a long list easier if you could remove what you have already crossed off. When I’m shopping with a long list, maybe two times or so I would want to clear the crossed off items and condense the list to only what I still need to purchase. It’s used to be clear how to do it. Only by reading another’s review did I figure it out. Now there’s a cryptic check mark that clears the crossed off items. Great. I still have that function from a previous version, but why hide it as an unmarked, untitled check mark to clear. User testing clearly not applied on this version. Get rid of the bottom add items and keep it where it was before... on the main item catalog list. There’s no need to add items to my catalog while shopping. And maybe make it clear what that check mark does. Overall the app is good and I use it every week. It was just easier and made more sense before. Thanks for a cool app.

Bummer update - please revert

This new update has all the earmarks of user interface designers trying to justify their existence. This app was not broken but apparently someone felt they needed to tinker with it to justify a paycheck, and it has definitely taken a turn for the worse.
You need to understand that shopping - especially weekly food shopping- is generally a two step process: 1. make the list, and 2. go to the shop or store and check things off the list as you add them to your cart.
Therefore, adding this intrusive ability to add new items to the list while you are also looking at your shopping list is completely unnecessary.
I see that the cryptic check mark at the top of the screen has replaced the “clear selected items” option on the menu list. Please put it back on the menu list until people discover what the check mark means, and move Clear List lower in the menu.
Note that most reviewer’s have used the adjective “simple” to describe the previous version, and that that is what they liked about it. Maybe add some usability testing to the process?

Used to be Simple and Complete

I’ve used this app since shortly after it came out, and it was part of my routine for years. I liked the simplicity of it. It was easy to make a shopping list from a history list of previously-tracked items, which helped me remember what I might need on my latest shopping trip.

I don’t like the way the interface was changed to make the history list slide up from the bottom, because it makes for a clumsy experience of swiping and rearranging of screens. Also, there’s a bug in the Shake To Clear feature where the feature stops working when my phone goes to sleep. I have to go into the settings and toggle the Shake button to get it to work again, only to find that it stopped working again after phone sleep. This was one of my favorite features of the app, so that’s bothersome.

All things must pass...
