Description

Free sale! Organize bits of info VISUALLY instead of using lists. TOGGLE your labeled “magnets” on/off with a tap. MOVE them, ARRANGE them, give them COLORS and SHAPES. It’s simple and fun!

Mind Magnets is like a little “bulletin board” you can fill with mini-notes about anything you want. Your magnets always snap into place in tidy grid rows. Each magnet has three states: TAP it on/off, or DOUBLE-TAP for “maybe” with a question mark badge.
_______________

WHY IS A GRID BETTER THAN A LIST?

• Lists lack organization. But Mind Magnets can be moved around and grouped any way you like, with 10 shapes and 40 colors.

• No scrolling: see 45 items at once on an iPhone, or 108 on an iPad, or 300 on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

• Quick and easy: color, shape and position help you remember where each item is at a glance.
_______________

Use Mind Magnets as a visual shopping list, to-do list, trip packing list, task organizer, habit tracker, or a way to track any small bits of info—from game scores and character sheets, to event RSVPs, to brainstorming and planning, to exercise routines.
_______________

TIPS AND TRICKS:

• Finished with an item for now? Tap to “check it off” and it will turn dark until you need it again.

• Want a label with no shape around it? Just choose the black color.

• Export a screenshot by clicking the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time.
_______________

LIMITATIONS: This app does not support emoji, Voiceover mode, or cloud sync. Magnets are quite small on 10.5" iPads—but on the bright side, this lets you fit the same 300 magnets as the largest iPads!

THANKS FOR TRYING MY APP! I’d love to hear what uses you find for it. Problems? Feature requests? Let me know at adamsimmersive.com.

What’s New

Version 2.1.0

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon.

• Smoother motions and transitions, especially when dragging one magnet and others are “flowing” around it.

• New system for conserving power: the app now intelligently varies between three levels of power consumption.

• Minor UI tweaks.

• After changing a shape or color, the keyboard re-appears automatically after a short delay, saving a tap. (For people who like to set up shapes and colors first and add labels afterward, this should simplify the process.)

• Groundwork laid for bigger changes. (Stay tuned!)

AND IF YOU MISSED IT FROM VERSION 2.0: you can DOUBLE-TAP ANY MAGNET for a “?” state, neither On nor Off. (Plus there are new shapes and colors.)

I am working on other new features, guided by your helpful messages (while being careful not to lose the app’s simplicity). Need more space? So do I!

I can be reached at adamsimmersive.com. Thanks for letting me know how you use Mind Magnets, and how it could work better for you!

Impressive and Simple to Use

I’ve had this app on my homepage for quite some time and it never gets old. It’s my absolute go-to app for not just note taking but also list making. Being ADHD, BiPolar and LD—it’s the BEST APP EVER.

The way you can give each little message to yourself is incredible. You can organize by shapes, colors and in columns; turn on or off each message by highlighting them; then you can move the messages around your screen any way you like. It’s a dream app for me and I continuously tell others, including my therapist so she can tell her clients, about this app. Life changing.

I wish two things: (1) my phone doesn’t update to the point that it makes this app unusable, and (2) I could get two screens of this app-that way I could have one screen with an overview of my messages and the other screen used for ‘just today’ notes. Other than that, I simply love it. And to think it’s free—even better!!

That's great to hear! I need more space myself, so I'm working on adding scrolling for Version 3. Someday, multiple separate pages would be nice—I'd use that too. In the meantime, scrolling is something I can build sooner. And it would let you have a "work" section and "home" section on different parts of the big scrolling workspace.

ADHD: this is lifechanging

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD after years of searching for a diagnosis—a diagnosis which spurred a journey of realization that most times I felt like a “failure”, it was actually just that I was using a tool or system that wasn’t designed for me.

Entire Mind Magnets.

I have always obsessively written in planners, to do lists, but could never remember where I put the notebook, which notebook I even wrote it in, whether or not I had already written down XYZ, etc. and my life was a constant loop of take notes, lose notes, try to replicate the notes, end up with 72 duplicates and get overwhelmed sorting through my brain dumps, repeat.

While I do lose my phone, I don’t have 145 backup phones to write stuff in like I do with notebooks. I’m also an avid color coder and sub-lister, and this app has been absolutely amazing. I especially love the question mark function because sometimes it really isn’t a yes or no.

Thank you Morgan for creating an app that gives me more time and frees up so much energy I was wasting on trying to get organized. This isn’t too complex, isn’t too simple, it’s perfect (although I could use a little more space, but perhaps that says more about my need to stop piling stuff on my plate than it does about your app creating skills 😂)!

That's great to hear—I'm glad the app has been a help. I'm out of space too! The next version has been a slow process, but more space (via scrolling) will be the top new feature. (I'm always looking for insight into how people use the app—or how they would like to. If you have any further thoughts or examples, feel free to get in touch at adamsimmersive.com.)

So close to what I need but not quite.

I am excited to see that the developer responded to another reviewer and is planning on an update. I was afraid this was yet another abandoned simple list app of which I've gone through several. Complicated list systems are good for some things but I need a simple checkbox system for my daily goals. This app is so close to what I want. I hope future updates will allow turning all of the buttons off at once or even a group of buttons as the other reviewer mentioned. It gets a little tedious having to turn them all off one by one at the end of the day.

Also, syncing in icloud would be great but that's pretty obvious. One other potential goodness would be having a second larger button size for things of a higher priority. Those are minor though. Really love the app. Have used it off and on for a few years.

I would also pay a one time fee for syncing. No subscriptions though. I hate subscriptions.

I had to come back and add one last thing. Horizontal view would be awesome. I almost always have my ipad on a stand in horizontal view. I just turn my head to read the buttons but horizontal view would be fabulous.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your feedback! I need horizontal support myself, and am working on that as part of the planned scrolling workspace for Version 3.
