What We Do:
At Walk With Friends!, we utilize your real-world walking data from Apple Health to create exciting virtual adventures anywhere in the world using Apple's map data. As you walk in your daily life, our app translates your footsteps into a virtual journey.
How It Works:
Imagine this: you decide to embark on a virtual walk from LA to Las Vegas. You invite friends to join you, even if they're far away from those locations. Every step you take in your real location contributes to this virtual walk. Our app tracks your progress and that of your friends, marking your virtual journey with map pins. Who will reach the destination first?
Important Note:
Please understand that Walk With Friends! is not a navigation app. It won't guide you with directions.
Privacy First:
We prioritize your privacy. We only share the miles you've walked along the virtual route with your walking friends. Your actual location is never shared, and your health data remains private.
Key Features:
• Track your virtual progress with friends or walk solo.
• Display walking information from Apple Health data.
• Create and invite friends to a virtual route with ease.
• No location data is used or shared
• Get a surprise upon route completion.
• View the past seven days of daily walking information, independent of route data.
Permissions:
To function properly, Walk With Friends! requires access to three data points from Apple Health: steps, flights, and distance.

Curated Routes are carefully crafted paths filled with interesting insights and surprises that unveil themselves as you progress. Whether it's historical tidbits, intriguing landmarks, brain-teasing puzzles, or whatever the route creator dreams up.
The best part? These routes can take you anywhere - driven by the curator's imagination. Forget the limitations of conventional maps – with Curated Routes, you can traverse hills, cross bodies of water, or even venture through the woods to reach Grandmother's house!
And here's the magic: Curated Routes are rooted in real-world map data. Whether it's on-road, line-of-sight, off-road, or an entirely imaginary path, Walk With Friends! makes it happen.
Over 1,600 miles walked in the development and testing of this update! Full sneakers ahead!
**Important Note:**
BEWARE: Anyone you invite to a curated route will need to upgrade to this new version first!!!
**Curating Routes:**
BTW, if you're interested in curating a route, the route adheres to the standard geoJSON format. Specific property information relevant to this app will be posted on the developer's website.
Importing of these routes is a "planned" future feature. If you're interested in submitting a curated route for a future update, let me know.

Fun, but no android support for friends
I love this app. However most of my friends use android so I cannot walk with my friends.
All stats gone
After the upgrade all of my routes are gone and it then started me over on the very first route I did.

I’m very sorry you are experiencing problems with your old routes. I did make an attempt and warned users this would happen when installing new version. But I understand the message was too subtle.
The good news is this new version (though it deletes old routes) is a far superior app that works as expected.
Please keep in mind. I am a one person operation. Thousands of hours went into all phases of the development of this app, from layout, coding, and all the Apple hoop jumping. It has been at time very difficult work from which you get all the benefits.
Also keep in mind, I give the app (and all the labor to create it) away for FREE. I am not a greedy corporation. I am a retired educator.
Now that you know this. Could you be a touch kinder and revise that rating upwards?

What happened?!
Since the update I can only see the beginning and destination pins. My friends and I are gone! I would give this app a 6 if it could go back to the way it was before the update. I loved and referred this app to so many people before. Please fix.

Should be fixed now. This is a difficult bug to track down as it does not manifest when I try to fix it - it works perfectly. Try deleting and reinstalling latest version 2.1.1. Your data is in the cloud so everything (including pins) should show back up. Please email me directly from the App and let me know if this works.
