The Harford County Public Library app is your portal to the library's services from your mobile devices. Check your account, search the catalog, use your digital library card, renew items, check out ebooks from OverDrive and get the latest recommended reads suggestions.
Summary and detailed descriptions are at your fingertips, plus reviews and lists of similar items.
All our events are shown in the app and you can filter by location, age and event type.
Want to check whether we have a book you've just seen in a café? You can scan the book's barcode and we'll check whether any branches have it. And if not you can request we purchase it.
Our location finder shows you the nearest branch to where you are. You can see opening hours at a glance and get directions to any of our 11 library branches.
Access digital content - ebooks, audiobooks, music, movies, magazines and more with quick links to apps from Overdrive, Axis 360, Freegal, Hoopla, Zinio, Freading and OneClick digital. For OverDrive you can check out and read or listen to ebooks all from within the app.

Wonderful app, except for one thing
I absolutely love this app. Easy to use and navigate. I just have one complaint that I wish they’d fix.
When you scroll down the list of books that you’ve requested, if you aren’t careful, you can easily hit the “cancel request” button. Once it’s been hit, there’s no going back... you’re out of the queue. I’ve done it several times. 😫
It would be a 5 star rating if the designers put in an “are you sure you want to cancel?” question before going through with the delete request
HCPL is Amazing!
The library has been such a blessing to our family. I’m amazed at the work that they do and the service that it provides to our community. This app is yet another thing that makes their service more accessible. I was delighted when it was introduced and I use it consistently, as do my teens. I’ve seen improvements over time, for example there used to be a problem where I had to login nearly every time I went to use it. Clearly, that has been resolved. So, certain usability and stability issues have arisen (filtering by media type, for example), but it continues to improve consistently. THANK YOU HCPL! Keep it up! We love what you do and are grateful.
Too easy to accidentally cancel request!
I use this app all the time and love the convenience, BUT if I’m not super careful and barely touch the “cancel” tab, my request is automatically cancelled. Would help if there were an “are you sure” tab.
