If watering plants was fun, we’d remember. But it’s not and our spouses have gotten on our case about it. Well, it’s time to show who’s boss.

To defeat this forgetful habit, we spiced up the watering task with gamification: watering streaks, naming your plants like babies, plant-selfies, and time-lapse videos to watch your plants grow baby grow.

Never forget to water your plants again with our Happy Plant features

Video Plants Growing:

Each time you water your plants, you can take a photo. In doing so, you’re actually assembling epic time-lapse video of your plant growth over time. It’s a fun video to watch as your green baby becomes a thriving green plant.

More Than An Alarm Clock:

Happy Plant is more than an alarm clock. It’s a good habit builder. We believe that seeing progress over time creates positive associations in your brain that help you remember better. Are we clever scientists? Not at all! But we’re finally watering our plants and our spouses aren’t yelling at us for being dumb. What more proof do we need?

Plant Care Turned Into Fun Experiences:

Having a fun water schedule not only helps to keep your plant hydrated, but it will help to prevent overwatering as well. With all our daily responsibilities, it’s easy to forget if you did something or not.

Tracking your plant watering will help guide you into becoming a good gardener. Each day when it’s time to water a plant, you’ll receive a notification. When you water your plant, you add to your water streak. Challenge yourself to see how long you can keep your water streak going.

When your plant is in the green zone, your baby is hydrated and happy.

When your plant is in the red zone, your baby is thirsty and in the danger zone.

Enjoy Healthy Plants!

Don’t be that forgetful dude ever again. Happy Plant is like the household wingman that will remind you to take care of your plants. It’s that’s simple.

“Now my wife asks me to buy new plants. Never would’ve imagined.” - the surprised cat
“ You just saved my marriage…and yeah, my plants too” - the lucky cat
“Watering my plants reminds me to shower” - the strange cat
“My plants love me. I love my plants…and the rest of the family” - the mushy cat

We at Happy Plant are on a mission to turn boring, forgetful chores into fun tasks. Through fun, we can remember!

Great idea, cute app, needs further development

I’m all about simplicity in apps, and I love that this one has a simple clean interface with great graphic elements. The concept behind it is great, and it really helps me keep track of my plants even when traveling and needing someone else to do the watering.

But the app isn’t yet very intuitive and lacks the ability to water outside your schedule. Basically - if your plant is dry and dropping due to a heat wave you have to mess with the schedule I order to get the option to water it. It would be good to have the option to water any plant at any time and bump forward the schedule accordingly. It would also be nice to have a “feed” option to show when you’ve fed your plants, as well as a sortable calendar (or at least arrange the icons by date automatically). I hope the developers will be able to do a bit more work on this - the app could be seriously amazing with some more work!

Cute idea, needs work.

I love the idea of taking a picture with every watering and turning them into a progress video. However the app needs more flexibility built in. The app doesn’t have access to my camera so when I take a picture at watering time it doesn’t add it to my camera roll. I can see some people might not like to fill their camera roll with plant pictures but it should be an option. Also there is no way to load a photo not taken with the app.

Those are trivial, but the real issue I have is that my plants really can’t live on a strict watering schedule. It’s nice to have the reminder to check my plant but sometimes it needs watering earlier or later than scheduled and I can’t water earlier without having to change each plant’s schedule. I should be able to water any time and just use the schedule as a reminder, not a restriction.

It would also be nice to have a notation of the last date the plant was watered to track patterns for each plant based on the current weather conditions etc that might necessitate changes to the overall schedule.

It Could Be Great

The version of this app I have doesn’t have the features that is shown on the developer website. If I want to see when one of my plants needs to be watered, it just says “water me in 7 days” even if it’s the day before and shows the time of day I originally watered them (???). I was under the impression there would be a watering schedule, but there is no schedule. Basically, on a watering day it just shows all the plants that need to be watered....so unless you keep track elsewhere you don’t know when the plants need to be watered ahead of time. This can’t be how the app works, I’ve written to the developers but no response about it.

One suggestion is if a plant looks particularly parched we should be able to do an “emergency watering” and choose to water immediately rather than waiting for it to finally appear in the “schedule”

But the app is adorable and I love the plant selfies and I love being able see them all in one place to keep track and give them names. I like that I can (potentially?) keep reminders of when they need to be watered.
