Great UX, comprehensive library

I have only used the free version of this app so far, and I am impressed. For free, you get many voicing of all the chords you will commonly find in music of most genres. The interface is deceptively simple in the way you only see when the developer has put a lot of work into clarifying it. You can see the notes of the chords as frets, pitches, or intervals. You can hear the notes as a chord or an arpeggio. You can cycle through chord variants in a very logical way. It’s really nice.

Some reviews have commented on the price of upgrades, but seriously :) You get a very useful app for free, and the devs deserve to be paid for their work. They aren’t going to make nearly as many sales as a “$0.99 gem pack” in a freemium game would, so they have to charge more. Make your own cost / benefit decision.

Time for the crazy wish list part of the review! Support for alternate tunings and capos would be nice. It would be amazing to be able to pick a key and see the notes of a given chord as intervals relative to the key. Scales and arpeggios would be amazing, but might need a new app. Another killer feature would be finding chords that are easy to move between. Something like, “What is the G variant most similar to this particular C variant?” Another idea is to pick chords into a progression, and then play them in a loop, or with a metronome.

Thanks for the great app!

Developer Response ,

Thank you for the feedback! We really appreciate your support and ideas for the future of the app. We would love to create a separate scales app in the future and your idea for a chord progression/metronome sequencer is high on our wish list too. We hope to provide all that and more as soon as possible. 🙏

As simple or comprehensive as you want

Fantastic app!! I really like the ability to set it up as simple as possible, particularly when starting out, but then have the option to widen the chord options to an amazing 100k!

My only wish is that there was a way to “bookmark” chords that become our go-to chords for quick access. Somehow be able to filter out only the ones we’ve selected for practice and such would be a home run.

Otherwise, excellent job!

The ability to save your favorite chords is now available as of version 3.0!

Guitar chord dictionary tool box is amazing

This is awesome. Shows the different inversions of chords. One drawback is that it does not show the fingering for chords, but it is relatively easy to figure out the fingering. Getting the additional feature of seeing extensions is pretty costly, it with any good software, there is a price associated with quality. Everything considered, it is worth it and if the cost of buying the extensions is too much, a google search should produce the same results.

Developer Response ,

Thank you! We've worked hard to bring what is easily the most comprehensive dictionary of guitar chords ever created to the world, and we're confident that this does not exist anywhere else, including a Google search. We chose not to include fingerings as there are often multiple solutions and we didn't want to impose a logic on people. Thank you for your support!
