Description

From the makers of LifeSpots, this app is for migrants and refugees, and for volunteers and organizations that help them. It shows the location and types of aid available on a map, with information about the opening days and hours. All of the aid shown in the app is from trusted aid organizations. The aid is categorized by type including: Legal/Admin/Info; Food; Shelter; Water; particular aid for Parents and Children, Unaccompanied Children, Women and Men; Health; Education; and Toilets and Showers.

The app is currently available in Europe, the United States and Turkey. The app only shows you what is available within 100 miles (150 kilometers) of where you are. There are services from more than 5,000 trusted service providers. Some services are available in multiple languages in addition to English, including Arabic and Farsi. More languages coming soon.

Don’t worry - we are not going to give this information to anyone (not police, not asylum authorities, no one)! And we won’t tell anyone where you are. We just want to show you help closest to you on a map.

No one can use this app to find or target you!

Features include:

- A list of all aid nearby, with a description and location of the services
- A map view of aid nearby, shown by category of aid, using color coded icons
- Push notifications when there is urgent news in a particular location
- Many of the services are translated into multiple languages, including Arabic and Farsi.
- The app works offline - it lets you find services near you, and navigate to them when there is no internet.

Please note: continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

What’s New

Version 4.3.1

The app is now available in Turkish, as well as many other languages. In response to crisis, like the earthquake in Turkey, there are services available in the app to help people find the help they need.

How to add resources?

First of all, I apologize for the ignorant people on here that don’t know the difference between refugees and immigrants. This is a good start. But as others have said, there is no way to suggest additional resources that are available. And yes, the location services should only be used when you use this app, not all the time. Keep up the good work, don’t let the haters get you down!

Developer Response ,

Thanks! To add resources to the app, go to refaid.com and use the contact form on the page that says "Want to add services." But that gives me a good idea, and next week we will add info in the app so public and community services providers can get to this more quickly.

Bigotry cannot be hidden.

Those leaving bad reviews may think that their anonymity protects them against being judged for their bigotry. They should ask themselves a question. If they’re so certain that their beliefs are good and right, what reason is there to hide and be cowardly? Good people have no reason to hide behind a mask and evil cannot be disguised by one. You think you’re anonymous, but you cannot hide from yourselves even when you fool yourselves that no one else sees what you truly are. You hide because you’re aware of your own darkness and cruelty. You hate goodness and kindness in others because you envy it. You’re not incapable of it. You’ve chosen to be cold and dead and cruel. Don’t blame anyone else for that and don’t expect good people to follow just because their caring makes you uncomfortable. Grow up and live with how you choose to be or change yourself. Quit expecting the universe to stop for you.

Top notch

I think it is disgusting the hatred that has infiltrated a real effort to help fellow human beings. If you disagree with helping folks, it seems reviewing an app designed to help people is an exercise in futility. I think it would be easier to just “proudly” post what a racist pig you are and move on. I don’t think it fair or reasonable to criticize those trying to help. Maybe if we were required to post with full details including our jobs it would cause those using the veil of anonymity to rethink their vile posts. And maybe their Moms need to see what kind of nasty people they have raised. As to the app- kudos for attempting to help those who are vulnerable, scared and in need of help. To the nasty folks, I pray you never find yourselves in similar need. It would be karma for sure.
