Description

TrekRight: West Highland Way is a comprehensive, incredibly handy mobile app for anyone walking all or part of the West Highland Way or exploring the beautiful region around the trail.

TrekRight includes an in-depth reference 'Trekopedia' (communities, B&Bs / hotels, attractions, services, points of interest, etc.), supports customizable routes, interactive maps (including detailed offline maps), directions and section-by-section guide, dynamic trip stats for your current section, stage, and route, an intelligent compass that shows the right direction based on your current location and chosen route, and more.

# The Right Information, When You Need it
Location-aware information – TrekRight provides you with information tailored to your current location. If you are approaching Drymen, TrekRight will tell you how far you still have to go, what points of interest are available around you, where you can find a pub, options for where to stay the night, easy access to interactive elevation profile charts, and clear, detailed directions. You can easily see what things you flagged as interesting, which things you added notes to, and which you marked as favourites. Real-time information that keeps you completely on top of things!

# Trekopedia
TrekRight’s ‘West Highland Way Encyclopedia’ is packed with extensive interactive reference information, organized into Communities, Accommodation, Attractions, Services, Points of Interest, and Route Sections. Everything can be searched and filtered, viewed on a map, notes can be added (anything from a simple reservation number to a copy-and-pasted blurb from a website), and more. Handy information (literally) at your fingertips!

# Interactive Map / Offline Maps
Powerful, flexible map built on top of our high-quality mapping engine, with full support for detailed offline map imagery. Displays your current location on your selected route along with pins showing all the locations included in the Trekopedia (just touch a pin to open its related Trekopedia entry). Our offline maps mean you don’t require Internet access to use the mapping functionality. Online maps are also available for when you have an Internet connection. Easily filter and do searches. Scroll, zoom, and rotate the map and (in online maps) configure to show street maps, satellite view, terrain, or a hybrid. Completely transform how you ‘see’ your surroundings on the West Highland Way.

# Intelligent Compass
In addition to all the standard compass functionality, TrekRight’s intelligent compass also points you in the right direction based on your current location and your selected route, and updates dynamically as you move. Two special compass indicators are available – one points towards the end point of your current section (typically the next town on the route), and the other points which way you should go now, taking into consideration all the twists and turns in your route. Never get lost again!

# Pre-Departure Planning & Preparation
TrekRight makes it easy to plan your route (including configuring the sections you want to follow), organize it into stages, and review distances and elevations (including a handy interactive Elevation Profile Chart). Comes pre-defined with popular routes (full and partial). Review and rank hotels / B&Bs, flag locations of interest as ‘favourites’, add your own notes, and more. Be prepared!

# Up-To-Date Content
TrekRight’s content is regularly being updated and expanded based on the latest information available to us. You can check for content updates directly inside TrekRight and download our database whenever it is convenient for you (even on the trail), without having to connect to the App Store. Always be up to date!

--- No Internet Connection Required ---
All of TrekRight's content is stored directly on your phone, including our detailed offline maps (once downloaded). No Internet connection is required unless you want to use the online maps.

What’s New

Version 3.70

Hey everyone! Managing your route in TrekRight just got much easier, with lots of great enhancements to make it easier to make changes, to see what your options are, and more, including:
- You can edit your route on the map now.
- You can tap on any 'branch point' icon to see what route variants are available from that junction.
- You can tap on any white arrowhead along your route to see how far it is to that location in your current stage. The arrowheads also indicate which direction you are walking at that location.
- It's now much easier to modify your stage breaks. Just drag them up/down on the route details screen.
- The appearance of the route details screen is more appealing and more informative.
- Tap on any branch in the route details screen or on any branch point on the map screen to see a pop-up showing lots of details about that branch, what other branches are available at that location, plus there are options for viewing its elevation chart, viewing it on the map, opening its details screen in the Trekopedia, inserting new branches, or deleting the branch from your route.
- When editing your route, you can now shake your phone to undo changes you've made.
- And more! There's lots of little details for you to discover.

Plus, of course, there are lots of updates to our trail content.

Our thanks to everyone who sent in feedback or helped with testing. We have the best users!

Hiking the West Highland Way

I can’t begin to praise this app enough in getting me through the 96 miles of hiking I just recently completed. Each day my destinations were there for me, including highlights, trail notes and the most important thing of all, how far I had gone and how much further I had to go. I used it multiple times per day. GPS immediately updated my progress each time I opened it. I just can’t praise this enough and the support I received in the beginning as I navigated through learning.

Very helpful!

I just completed the WHW using this app, and it was a Godsend! Lots of helpful parts, very detailed, almost mile-by-mile descriptions of the trail, and helpful tips and info (elevation details, distance tracker, etc.). I downloaded the map to use offline, since there are many places along the trail with no service, and it worked great! I was able to find myself on the map every time! I highly recommend!!!

I have done the West Highland Way and Glencoe Valley 6 tunes using this app. Quite simply I love it! Only issue is when I can’t get reception in my phone but that’s not the app’s fault. I highly recommend it.
