Description

With the myAlerts app from AlertSense, you can receive life-saving emergency alerts from public safety agencies, advanced warning of severe weather and community notifications that impact you and your family.

My Locations:
Simply add the locations that matter to you. For example, you could identify your home, your child’s school, where your aging parent resides, the university where your older child attends, and your office. When you travel, you can enable the app to monitor your current location in order to receive any emergency alerts issued for the city or area you are visiting.

Types of Alerts I Can Choose to Receive:

Severe Weather Alerts
Receive advanced warning of severe weather when you or one of your locations is in the direct path of the storm. AlertSense receives feeds from the National Weather Service, automatically interprets the geographic area affected, and delivers targeted alerts immediately to app users when one of their locations falls within the impact area. You can tailor your alert settings by location, selecting the severity level for which you want to receive notifications. For example, you can choose to receive only the most severe weather warnings or all watches and advisories as well.

Public Safety Alerts
Receive emergency alerts from public safety alerting authorities, notifying you of situations that threaten the safety of yourself or those you care about. Public safety alerts include events such as crime, active shooter, imminent danger, hazardous materials, wildfire, floods and the need for immediate evacuation.

Community Notifications
You can also choose to receive notifications of events in your community that, while not life-threatening emergencies, still impact your daily life and commute, such as road closures and power outages.

Please Note: If a location you enter is not currently covered by a public safety agency who utilizes the AlertSense Service, you will receive severe weather warnings but not public safety alerts or community notifications for that location. If your city or county does not currently utilize the AlertSense service, contact your local public safety organization and let them know that your community would benefit from this service.

Irrelevant alerts

I deleted the app (was recommended by the local sheriffs office though I don’t see why) because I’m getting alerts that are not relevant to my area. Some alerts I get are for Tucson …. Over an hour away that don’t even include my town.

Expired Alerts Issue Seems to Be Resolved

November 09, 2023 Yesterday I received notification that the old alerts issue has a solution (on the Alerts tab, tap the icon that looks like a circle around an ellipsis & tap “Hide Expired Alerts”.) March 23, 2023 Since posting the review below, I have found another way to clear old (& no longer useful) alerts, remove then add the location covered by the alerts. This is slightly faster than deleting, downloading & reconfiguring the app. January 28th, 2023 I am giving a one star because it appears the developer is not interested in fixing this problem as I see people have been pointing it out for several years. There should be a means (e. g. swipe left or an Edit function that people could select alerts to remove.) What value is there in in keeping alerts that have have expired long ago still in the list? The only way I could find to remove the old alerts is to delete this app (which removes all data associated with the app), install it again & reconfigure the app. This sounds like the horrible things I hear about PCs!

Developer Response ,

Hello Steve, yes, you are correct- we did make an update recently that allows for expired alerts to be hidden. It was actually your original feedback, along with a few others, that paved the way for that update to be made within our app, so THANK YOU very much for sharing your experience with us. We appreciate you taking the time to speak up initially, as well as for coming back to update your review!

No alerts and fire is close to my house

The link you sent me to write a support ticket to you it’s crap. That company has nothing to do with your support inquiries.

I filled in the form as requested. IDK why MEMA is not testing these text alerts when they do the siren test on the first of every month. A test for this alert system at the same time should be mandatory. WEA texts should be tested as well.

I am on Maui and I signed up for this alert system on Wednesday after Lahaina burnt down, for all of the major areas on the island, and I have received zero alerts. ZERO. Even though there have continued to be fires. I know for a fact, one of the towns, Kaanapali, is being evacuated RIGHT NOW. And I have not received any alert. IDK what the point of this system is if there are no alerts being issued

Developer Response ,

Hello ritarama723, thank you for updating your review to let us know you submitted a support ticket with us, but I am sorry that the experience of submitting that ticket was frustrating. The MyAlerts app is indeed published by the company named Konexus, so I'm not sure why you said "that company has nothing to do with your support inquiries." We appreciate the opportunity for you to let us further investigate your not receiving an alert, as that is unexpected behavior. With help from feedback like yours, we look forward to improving the total user experience. Thank you for your time and assistance.
