Great way to self tutor as a beginner

This app allows my to practice whenever I have a little time. I can work on areas that mind is not skilled for a real chess match- one day. I’m not ready yet, but one day!

Nice but some significant flaws

I have a rudimentary grasp of chess and have been having fun learning with this app. The main complaint I have is that in the lessons, it’s not always apparent why a “correct” move is correct, at least for a beginner. It would be really helpful if there were notes in the tests explaining why a move is good vs. bad, etc. For instance, in one situation you are trying to mate in one move, and the “correct” move does not seem to be mate at all because the king could capture the attacking piece without remaining in or putting itself in check. An explanation would really help in this and many other cases.
The app works well, and the “Theory” section is comprehensive and detailed. I’d recommend starting there if you’re new to the game. There’s not much direction as to what to do when you first open the app. It would be much improved if the clunky Home Screen were more directive. But other than that, it’s a good app for learning/improving your game.

Chess for beginners

I know absolutely nothing about chess and hoped this app would teach me something. I have to agree that I did learn more than I knew but the feedback is not on the screen long enough to read and I would like comments on the mistakes I make.
