Description

The Voice Volume Meter Pro app, while originally designed for, and in collaboration with, Speech Language Pathologists, is useful for anyone who needs help controlling the volume of their own voice.

It is simple to use, and provides a visual feedback depending on your voice volume.

If the app display Blue, it gives an indication that you are speaking too quietly and need to “speak up”, if it displays Green, then your voice volume is good, and if it displays Red, then you are talking too loudly.

The user, or Speech Language Pathologist, can set the Upper and Lower thresholds, of an acceptable voice volume, and lock these once set. The relevant dB values are displayed while the thresholds are being set.

The Current, Maximum and Peak dB values are displayed on the main screen, these can be switched ON/OFF as required. The Peak value can be reset at any time by simply tapping on it.

The app can also be calibrated, to take into account local environmental conditions.

The "Voice Volume Meter Pro" can be useful if you are giving a speech, or presenting publically, by providing visual feedback on the volume of your voice. Making sure you are heard….but without shouting!

You can adjust various settings, (in addition to the Upper and Lower thresholds), such as a calibration slider, a slider to adjust the sampling rate, you can even select a different graphical theme….with more themes to come in future updates.

You have direct access to the developers (from inside the app) if you have any issues with it or can think of any ways in which it can be improved, we would love to hear from you.

Our hope is that this app provides real value to all those people who need to control the volume of their voice.

Mixcoac Man ,

Completely unhelpful

This app is a completely useless, unhelpful, and is a total waste of money. I was sitting quietly and the app was registering 74 dB in a quiet room. If I spoke in a controlled, consciously modulated and soft voice, it went into the “red” zone. Peter, I expect a full refund. Thank you.

Developer Response ,

Hi Mixcoac Man,
I am sorry to hear you are having this issue with the app. 74dB for a quiet room certainly seems to suggest there is an issue somewhere. There are external factors that can effect the accuracy of the dB reading. Could you please use the "Help" button we have included inside the app. Just tap "Help" and then "Email Us", this will send an email to me directly. I will be pleased to help resolve this issue for you if you are willing to work with me on this? The last thing I want is unhappy users, so of course I will be happy to refund you payment (if you prefer), but I would appreciate it if you could give me a chance to help resolve the issue with you first? The app has been primarily designed to work between 40dB and 99dB with adjustable sensitivity and upper/lower threshold limits. It is not a "Noise Meter" as such, it is a serious attempt to help users control their voice levels, and judging from the feedback we get it seems to have proved useful to most users. The dB read out was added in a recent release as the result of a user request, but is not the main function of the app (there are better apps to measure dB levels!). You will see on the setting screen these displays can be switched ON/OFF. In the next release of the app we are introducing a "Calibrate" button which will help "factor out" any background noise and only display the effect of the voice volume. This should be available as a free update in the next two weeks.
