Description

Break out of your social media filter bubble with Read Across The Aisle!

In the app, you can read news from a variety of sources, and it shows you the political orientation of each source.

Read Across The Aisle also shows you the cumulative political orientation of your reading history.

Most importantly, the app detects when you've just been reading from one side of the aisle and occasionally reminds you to check out news from another angle.

We value your privacy and do not gather any personal information whatsoever. Of course, this means we're also not selling, renting any personal reading data (since we collect have any). What you read is your business, not ours!

Lock and reminder is annoying

I like the idea and layout of this app, but the execution is a bit annoying. I am making an attempt to read across the aisle by using this app to just read "red" articles. However, the (free) app thinks I should be alternating sides and reading from "blue" articles just as much as "red" ones and locks the app when I don't alternate enough. I have easy access to nytimes and huffpo, I don't need to read these on your app.

Option to Remove Ads?

Love the app, I use it everyday and have finally decided to write a review after using it for a year. Some of the bad reviews are from users not understanding the purpose of the app. Yes, this app will tell you to “get out of your bubble” even if all you read are center aisle publications. Imagine a world where the perfect news provider exists; reputable, unbiased, and holds no political agenda. This mythical newspaper would be balanced perfectly center in the app. The point here isn’t to stay perfectly center by only reading the perfect news... The app’s purpose is to see radically opposing views from either side of the aisle. It’s actually fun to see how the exact same event can result in completely opposite views. Every newspaper in the app, regardless of whether or not the app properly positions it on the political spectrum, and whether or not the paper itself provides accurate information, is read by tens of thousands or more people. The point is to read what other masses of other people are reading. The hope is that by knowing your neighbor’s informational diet you can start having more productive and useful discussion and debate.

Great concept

I REALLY like the concept of having a diverse selection of news sources to read from. This is going to be a well-known app that many people will enjoy. I do have some suggestions; 1.) Whenever I leave an article it doesn’t save my spot where I was reading, I have to go through and search for the article again. This task becomes very tedious. 2.) I would also like a more clear indication of what “side” I am reading on. Thus, allowing me to set goals like “Read two Articles on the Liberal side today and two articles on the conservative side.” 3.) Creating a profile of all my save reads would be tremendous, I know the coding for that can be tricky, but I would love that and I am sure others users would as well. 4.) *Friends* Allow me to have friends, so I can see what they are reading as well as be able to send articles there way. I look forward to seeing this adjustments!
