Paladins: Choices Game 12+

Very seldom do I take the time to write a review, but I’m enjoying this story enough I felt the need. Paladins is a very interesting tale. Unlike “A Wizard’s Choice”, where you focus on a single character, the Wizard, Paladins gives you perspective from all sides. From the two Paladins, Darius and Jericho, to the Wolfmen, farmers, villagers, even a young girl. I’ve finished the first book, working on the second, and I’m still impressed and wanting more. More than once I’ve found myself telling my wife about the story, even reading certain passages. You get a real sense of every character, so much so at times I didn’t know who to hope survived more. There have been moments where I’ve tuned everything out, I’m so wrapped up in the story. The part with the girl and the prayer, you’ll know it when you get there, I was like wow... it’s been a long time since I’ve just put down my mobile games, or taken a night off of Netflix, and just read. But, this story makes me drop the games and shows, pulling me in for more at every free moment. Thank you for the story, I hope for even more from you guys in the future!

I love how there is no one right way to go in the story. The story shifts PoV from one character to the next, which surprisingly makes the world it is set in seem more immersive. The “right” choices you should be choosing are based off of the character you’re playing, what what their morals are.

As for the story and world itself, it is not entirely original feeling, but the way it is carried out makes it feel quite fresh, compared to other interactive stories. A common problem among interactive stories is that they make the reader feel like the area they are in is the only part of the world. Paladins does not have that problem. From chapter one, the story gives you a sense of adventure, and that there is much more to explore in the game. The world is interesting, and I look forward to finishing the game.

I’m only on chapter 4, but I am super excited to continue on with the story. I will definitely recommend this to friends.

I don’t always get a chance to sit down and read being busy with work, at home with the kids, yard work and thing that pop up in life. That being said I generally always have my phone with me, and when I do get a rare chance I like to sit down and have a good gaming session. But anytime I’m waitin here at work, on lunch break or the DMV or wherever this is a pretty entertaining story to follow. Trying to match the choices to the different characters and situations gives you a sense of impending doom and enjoyment knowing your more or less leading them to the end. I’ve died a few times in the story but it made me WANT to re read the chapter and TRY to figure out and play out all the scenarios that could happen. I’ll be reading this to the end.
