Word on the Street. Connect directly with local law enforcement.
Wots (Word on the Street) for Residents is an app that let's you report issues directly to the police department. When you call in an issue to the police department, information is second or even third hand by the time the responding officer receives the complaint. Wots sends issues directly to available responding law enforcement officers, by pinpionting the precise location of the issue and allowing you to give pictures and detailed descriptions. Moreover Wots let's you know when the officer is on the way and when the issue has been closed. Currently available only in Jersey City, NJ.
With Wots for Residents:
- Users can report quality of life, crime and traffic and parking issues
- Issues are pinpointed to either an address or a precise GPS location
- Users can upload images and supply additional information to help officers locate and resolve issues
- Users are automatically directed to call 911 if for issues that require emergency response
- Responding law enforcement officials can reach out directly by calling you when they need more information
- Information sent by you to law enforcement cannot be seen by anyone outside of law enforcement

App needs work
I’ve given this Wots App only 2 stars because a lot of the time a problem is not resolved. On one occasion, the parking enforcement closed the issue of someone parked in my driveway and they never even showed up and I had to resubmit my complaint. Sometimes you may want to cancel your issue and the option to do so just magically disappears. This app could be so much better if they updated it more and fixed the bugs in it.
Parking authority is a BUST with this app
This app has good potential but it’s JERSEY CITY. When you submit an issue for a clear parking violation you get unqualified and uninformed person for parking offenses. The parking authority person doesn’t know how to properly do their job. They are lazy and inexperienced. For an example, a persons car is clearing blocking the sidewalk :Offense is 39:4-139f. When the parking authority lady arrives she begins to laugh and then that person mock the person submitting the request to the neighborhood by showing the photo to everyone and saying “you got a rat on this block!” Now, she then states that the truck isn’t in violation when in clear daylight this truck is completely blocking the sidewalk and people have to walk into the street to get around. Now, after her mocking and failure to issue she gets in her little scooter and rides away into the sunset. Meanwhile, parents with strollers are forced to go into the street to get around. Once you took away the police from giving tickets and gave it to this department the quality and knowledge of enforcement quickly went downhill. Good luck with the app but you’re in Jersey City, quality of treatment will never change.
It’s ok, responding time is slow
I have a consistent issue of people blocking my driveway on sip ave/Corbin ave. You can submit and issue but they show up 2-3 hours later. By that time the person had already moved their car. I would say 3/9 issues I submitted were done. And I would prefer them to tow the car too so I can get out of my driveway! Imagine you waking up and have to go to work.. but you can’t and I’m stuck calling out of work. Does not make sense and the ticket violation is only $54 (Offense: 39:4-138D - Blocking Driveway).. $54 fine is not equivalent to me missing a whole day of work! I rated 3/5 stars for the app because of the response time of the officers. I wish I can post pictures so I can show proofs
