Description

Watch, pause and record live over-the-air TV with the Hauppauge Cordcutter TV and the myTV app for iOS.

Please note: The Hauppauge myTV app REQUIRES a Hauppauge Cordcutter TV receiver in order to operate. The myTV app will not operate without the Cordcutter TV connected to your WiFi router. In addition, the Cordcutter TV requires a TV antenna. There are many TV antennas which can be used with Cordcutter TV.

FEATURES:

• Live TV (free live over-the-air HD TV and clear QAM cable TV) on your iPhone or iPad
• Watch TV longer: Cordcutter TV’s dual built-in ‘transcoders’ saves your iPhone or iPads battery life by converting HD TV into a form which can be played using built-in H.264 hardware acceleration.
• Wireless to your router: with the built-in transcoder, Cordcutter TV uses WiFi to send TV to your home router. WiFi operation to your router is only possible with the transcoder
• Simple to use app, with a built-in channel guide and simple to use live TV viewer.
• Now/Next display shows you what is on now, and what is on next on the channel you are watching
• Free 24 hour guide data
• NO monthly fee

Great concept - Very crusty software

The Hauppauge CordcutterTV connects to your cable or antenna signal and allows you to watch TV on your iOS device through the myTV app. That’s where all the trouble starts. If it works, the video quality is great. However, the software running on the CordcutterTV box tends to freeze up from time to time, which makes the box unresponsive requiring a reset. The myTV app allows schedules recordings that are saved on an NTFS formatted (!) USB stick plugged into the box. If the box happens to freeze up and needs a restart, the recording schedule is lost und you have to start over. The video quality of the recordings is great and playback if fluid on my iPad Air 2, but the myTV app will NOT let you fast forward during playback. It will not even remember the position where your left off should you stop playback and leave the app. Why would I want to record video if I can’t resume or fast forward during playback?!? Sometimes the box freezes up during playback and I have to start watching from the beginning. FRUSTRATING!!! This lack of functionality makes the CordcutterTV completely useless as a DVR. I still can watch TV on my iPad, but I’d rather use my actual TV for that. I wasted 120 bucks of myMoney!!

Unstable app

App is not very stable. Often crashes and it very difficult to make it play landscape mode with 1080 resolution. Missing a lot of configuration to make it go in and out of different modes

Works on my iPad and iphone

I’m using this app on my iPhone and iPad with the Cordcutter tv. I have live tv from my tv antenna. I get about 30 odd channels. Mostly I watch CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox. I make recordings once in awhile though lately I’ve been recording the news on CBS at 6pm. The one thing I don’t like is the way the recorded tv programs are named. They have the channel name and date, but not the program name. Example: WCBS_03202019_180000 Ir would be nice if the name was something like CBS_Evening_News. But otherwise I basically leave my iPad running tv all day and use my iPhone once in awhile.
