Description

Explore your Mode! Choose the Refocus, Chill, or Energize Mode to reduce anxiety and increase your peace of mind.

Interacting with Modes is like playing in a sandbox of dynamic visuals and music. Each Mode offers a unique set of visuals and music designed for anxiety reduction. Different visual and sound landscapes appear as you tap, swipe, draw, pinch, and hold down with one finger.

Modes is collaborative design effort between Emily Verba Fischer (visuals) and John Hebbeler (sound). Our cross-disciplinary partners include Meera Rastogi, Ph.D (psychology), Jill Gomez, Ed.D. (social work), and the UC Technology Solutions Center (development). Modes was born out of a concern for the mental and physiological well-being of college students. However, Modes is an enjoyable and soothing experience for all ages.

Really helpful

Being a full time student with a ton of work to do and a job on top of that is a lot. Sometimes it can get pretty stressful but when it does I just take a few minutes out of my day to use the chill mode on this app, it really does make you feel better. If I’m up late and getting tired and need to wake up a little bit, I use energize or refocus parts of the app. It’s really useful and pretty fun, you can lose yourself in it sometimes.

Something for everyone

Whether I find myself in a funk or agitated, Modes offers a quick, beautiful solution. Specifically designed to interact with multiple senses at once, this app takes you to another place for however long you need it. Great for college students or business people that need a quick refresher during a work period or when stressed.

Relaxing!

Modes is really great for my adhd and mood swings. The three different options are fun to listen to and play with; you don’t even know that it’s doing what it’s supposed to be doing until you’re finished and your head is clear. It’s a much easier mindfulness practice than meditation, and makes it easy to quiet the mind for a little bit.
