Description

Use only QR codes to monitor the running distance of all runners.

Count how many laps each of your students has run and automatically calculate the total distance. Export the results.

Everything happens without a single click and without entering a single name! The app counts how often a QR code is shown. The students have their QR code scanned after each round. Enter a lap length and the app automatically calculates the total distance run and creates a ranking list. This can be exported as a .csv file for further processing.

INFO
This app is based on the popular QR Counter and has been adapted to the wishes of sports teachers. The highlights are the automatic distance calculation, the prevention of cheating and the acoustic lap counter.

Needs longer delay to prevent cheating

Too bad…this app (and a custom Google sheet we created) had the potential to revolutionize the way we track laps in our PE classes. But the delay of 10 seconds is not long enough to prevent cheating with our setup. I like the developer’s philosophy of “keep it simple” but he doesn’t want to add an option for a longer timeout between scans…so we will (and our entire district) be using a much more complicated and costly solution. If you are a teacher that can stand right next to your device all period and police the scan then this might work. We need to be a little more interactive with our classes so being a scanner “police” doesn’t fit in with our teaching philosophy.

Email not working

I love this concept. Yes it would be nice to add a time element so that we could track speeds as well however I am more frustrated that it will not let me email results. Emailing is an option however when I go to do this, the send button stays grayed out and won’t let me press...

Developer Response ,

Thanks for the feedback. The export of data via email currently only works with the standard email app. The app must be set up.
To integrate a time measurement the app could be combined with the QR Stopwatch app. But then you need two devices.

Missing a timer for PE & Mile Times

I love what this developer has to offer, but it’s missing the capability of timing the laps. In 5th grade, we time our students for the mile. While lap counting is important, it’d be great to combine the QR Stopwatch & QR Laps for all our teaching needs. Please and thank you! 🙏🏼

Developer Response ,

Thank you very much for the feedback. Since we keep our apps simple and easy to use, this would be an idea for a separate app. Because the same QR code is used for laps and time, the app would be complex. Until then, the only solution is to combine the QR Laps with the QR Stopwatch app on two devices.
