Description

Yearly lets you systematically read your Bible in a year, with daily readings from both the Old Testament and the New Testament. It’s a simple app with one main screen, showing your reading for the current day as well as for previous and next days. You can read each day’s reading directly within the app, mark days as read, and take notes.

Yearly also sends an optional notification every morning at 5:00 AM so you can know right from your lock screen what your reading is for the day. You can customize when this notification gets sent, and optionally have a badge on the app until the current day’s reading is complete.

With a simple settings menu that you can access by sliding from the left edge of the screen, you can customize your schedule’s start day to begin any day of the year, not just January 1. You can also customize the app’s background color by swiping from right to left on the main screen.

LOVE

I absolutely love this app. While it’s weird that the reminder for the reading comes at 5 AM every day, it does guarantee that I’ll see it as soon as I get up, and I can easily leave the notification there as a reminder.

The next great thing is that when you click one of your readings for the day, it takes you directly to the YouVersion Bible app if you already have it (not sure if it does this for other Bible apps, never tried), which is obviously very convenient.

Once you set your start date for the plan, you can change it at any time, which allows for some human error in not finishing Bible readings for the day.

The app also has you “mark as completed” at the end of each day, which is very satisfying.

Cool story: My Bible reading used to be kinda spontaneous. First I was going through the Old Testament in a year, and at some point I decided to add in reading a chapter of the New Testament every day. I decided to download this app, so that I would have my plan laid out for me and be more motivated to complete it. Despite the complete unpredictability of how I had been reading the Bible before, the reading for that day perfectly lined up with the random places I was in the Old and New Testament. Later I’ve been able to see how that was truly a sign of God’s intervening, because this app has helped me connect to Him throughout the day and actually read the Bible every day.

Simple and Effective

Have been enjoying this app while starting to read the Bible for the first time - start to finish. Readings are broken down into manageable portions with both the Old & New Testament, ability to add notes to the days readings and check the readings off when done. Just a nice simple app to keep me on track. No Bible? No problem - just install YouVersion and you can open the daily readings directly from Yearly in YouVersion (makes it easy to complete the daily readings anywhere)! Had a question for the developer, and he responded very quickly and answered my question. Overall I’m extremely pleased with this app! Extra plus - no ads to detract from the app or distract from readings. This is THE reading plan to download.

Great App for reading the Bible

I just finished one year with this app and loved it! Helped me to complete my goal of reading the entire bible this year. My only suggestions would be two fold. One, having a way to select which version of the Bible you wanted to read. As it is now you click the readin and it automatically takes you to the NIV in the Bible app which is not that difficult to switch over to the NLT which is my preferred version but sometimes I’d forget. Second, It would be helpful if you did miss a day to have a way to say say you skipped that day and have the schedule adjust for you. It might not strictly mean you finish in a year but might help more people stick with it.
