Miss Kayak ,

Athens banner herald app!

This is the worst app in the history of apps! You can’t go from small letters to large! Most apps let you decide how big or small you want the letters to be! When it goes to large you are reading a small section of the paper ! If you go small, you can only read the title of the story! I have read this paper for over 50 years, I am 82 years old! Y’all can do better! Curtis and Diane Smith

The old E paper app was much better

I don't like the E paper feature on the full news app at all. The response time is very laggy, particularly for zooming in and out. And the decision to not use the built-in iPad share menu cripples this feature. In addition, shared links are useless unless the recipient has the full news app. Why would I even need to share a link to an article if the recipient already has the app and can read it by simply opening the epaper? I realize that I can share an image of the epaper article. But this feature is extremely kludgy compared to being able to share the actual text of the article or a link to a webpage, showing the article, that is not behind a pay wall. The old E paper app was much better. But apparently it is now abandonware. It now has a super annoying nag screen that encourages the user to install the Banner-Herald full news app. I have already installed the full news app. But the nag screen continues to pop up every time I open the current app and every time I switch away from the app and back to it!! The only advantage of the new app is that the news is more up-to-date.

Terrible

Crashes constantly. It never saves your place reading. Every time the phone idles it resets back to the Home Screen of the app. The ads are so big you constantly click them accidentally, which redirects you to either safari or more often, the App Store. Then when you try to switch back to what you were reading, the app has reset and lost your place.

And none of that mentions the annoying content promotion getting pushed by the editors, or the infrequency of new articles. Both of those are more an issue with the quality of the publication…. The shortcomings of the app just make it that much worse.
