This app HELPS!!!

I learned about the Peace With Food app while going through the Lasting Freedom course at FINDINGbalance and it has helped in my journey of rediscovering my hunger cues. 20+ years of dieting and restricting caused me to completely disconnect from my true hunger & fullness signals. I would go LONG periods of time without eating (thinking I was killing it by eating so little) then I’d feel ravenous when my body started screaming for food. I would get to the point of “losing control” and binge... then feel sick, with a heapin’ helpin’ of shame on top. That cycle repeated daily. The PWF app gave me opportunities to check in with myself and my senses, and offered gentle reminders while eating my food to help me stay present. It’s been a difficult, but freeing, journey to find peace around food. Sure, you can set reminders on your phone, but the PWF app offers much more and goes deeper to help you. While this one app didn’t set me free, it certainly played a starring role. I’ve gained support and encouragement by participating in the Facebook group and weekly livestreams; the team is so knowledgeable and helpful in this area... and they’re compassionate and relatable. If you’re looking for an app to help you diet or lose weight, this isn’t for you. PWF is another tool to help you break up with dieting and diet culture. I HIGHLY recommend this app!

Simple and Difficult

I, like most American women, have been very conscious about my weight since I was about 11 years old. I’ve thought I was overweight my whole life. I have counted calories, macros, points, drank my meals, and done everything I could think of or that people told me I should do to be “healthy”. Even at lower weights, I was never satisfied and could never keep it off for long. It wasn’t until I did the research, science-backed research over anecdotal evidence, that I learned that diets don’t work. You can’t fight biology. Eat when you’re ready, stop when you’re satisfied, listen and indulge in your bodies cravings. It’s so simple. And it’s SO HARD! I already had the knowledge and the principles of intuitive eating. I was having a heck of a time putting them into practice. And Peace with Food has helped me with that. I love the push notifications. I’ve been “dieting” for 20 years and can’t always interpret the signals my body is giving me. But every half an hour a push notification reminds me to check in with my body. It’s still hard, but it’s easier with the app. Worth every penny, I find myself thinking about food less, rarely over eating (a big issue of mine), and enjoying food. I will shout about intuitive eating and this app until everyone I know starts to shun the pervasive “diet culture” too.

Love this app!

I am so in love with this app! I have dieted over 40 years, so sad to say. I totally lost any sense of hunger/satisfaction cues. I’ve been trying the last few years to intuitively eat, listen to my cues, be hungry but not too hungry, eat until satisfied, but what the heck was that even like? I’ve been using the app a little over the week and it has really helped already! I watch the clips for support, I love still using my
Phone but in a positive way, I love being reminded to check in, and what check in can look like-for me! It’s helped me, for whatever reason, stop counting up calories in my head-even when I think I’m not stung intuitive, I would always run that totally up in my head. So many ingrained diet rules-ouch! But I finally feel hopeful, and also a sense of community. I think that “sense of community” was a huge thing I needed from things like WW. And the almost immediate support I got when my app was not working at the start-just wow! Do not hesitate for a moment to incorporate this app into your new, peaceful life! You can’t do it wrong, you can use it however works best for you, at any given moment! It truly is Peace With Food! Thank you!
