Moving Meditations
for Families with Autism

- Take a break from stress and anxiety. Follow along with the
movements for the maximum effect or simply watch. New visual
and movement experiences promote calm and self-regulation.

- Developed by researchers at Dartmouth College for use by
children and their families. The app uses innovative methods that
support development of self-regulation and a sense of well-being.

- The 18 enjoyable short videos are designed to engage kids on the
Autism spectrum with special visual and auditory effects. Notice
the subtle shifts you feel inside as you watch the videos. Paying
attention to the shifts, supports development of self-regulation
skills.

-The aim is to gently educate the whole nervous system with skills needed for daily living.

- Great for families, classrooms, special needs educators,
homeschoolers and e-learners. Group practice may encourage an
atmosphere conducive to learning.

- The videos were inspired by the research of Dr. Louisa Silva, who
showed the very significant benefits of regular gentle tactile
movement therapy provided to kids with ASD and other
developmental challenges. Although not a substitute for hands on
treatment, our videos are designed to activate similar pathways in
the nervous system.

Videos include:
- De-stress 1: Patting
- De-stress 2: Pat Tummy

AWESOME!!!

THIS is just what I was looking for and I’ve been searching many apps for self-regulation….. I’m often disregulated when I have to go out in the world because of being Highly Sensitive and being on the Autism Spectrum with ADHD and PTSD as well….My service dog passed away a little while ago and though she was tremendously helpful, I was looking for something to help make thing a bit more manageable and I finally a great app…. THANK YOU!!

These are great!

I love the actual videos, but would love to have a way to remove the introduction for each video, which has a “boing” sound and slightly startling, twirling graphics- as it may be an issue for some kids, especially when trying to work on calming or de stressing. I appreciate how there is a volume mute button within the actual video for kids that prefer no sound. I can just do a work around, by keeping the volume on my iPad on silent to minimize the startling sound at the beginning.

Developer Response ,

We have created a new app to address your concern. It has all 18 videos available in both a low noise & low visual stimulus and also available in the higher noise/higher stimulus format. The new app also has training videos for older children and adults in the basics of qigong. It's called Resilient Family: Happy Child and is available at the App Store. We hope that you will try it and look forward to your review of it.

Simple but powerful!

Whether a person is on the autism spectrum or not this is an extremely powerful tool to help your body recover after responding to stress, and yet, it is delivered in such a simple, and inexpensive fashion. This has the potential to transform healthcare!
