Helpful and genuine

I sometimes hesitate talking about personal topics such as having low libido to my family doctor or even OB. Downloading this app has really made me feel like I am not the only person who suffers with this. Dr. Harper’s videos are very informative and helpful. I even forwarded this app to my older sister who just had her third baby. This really can help all women across the board!

Supports harmful purity culture

The main education info is medically accurate, although pretty basic. The erotica stories are too short and bad writing. Read Sarah Maas instead. I liked that the main info topics talk about self-touching as a healthy self-awareness practice. But, the app asks your religion. You find out why later when they ignore religious shaming / purity culture as one of the key causes of trauma, pain and inability to communicate needs. They ignore that women raised in conservative religions have a much higher incidence of sexual pain and dysfunction. Not only that, the app invites reps from each of the main patriarchal religions to teach “classes”. In a summary for the Christian class, the teacher says that women need to remember how much men “need” sex and that they think about it almost as much as women think about food. Eewww, are you kidding me?! Promoting biological myth and duty sex, proven to increase pelvic pain and reduce marital satisfaction? Speaking about sex as something women give and men biologically need is misogyny and phallus worship, not science or health. Sex should be mutual and women deserve pleasure. You can’t have it both ways, Rosy, trying to help women solve pelvic pain while supporting harmful purity culture religious rhetoric. As a birth doula and mom, I do not support this app and would not recommend it until this problem gets addressed.

Am I missing something...?

I downloaded the app and took the introductory quiz. It asks a lot of personal questions about why you feel the way you do and what your struggles are. And I can see how a lot of the videos and content in the app can help a lot of women. But there were zero questions or answer options to say that sexual assault is a reason that women are not having sex even though 1 in 4 women experience sexual assault. It’s a huge gap to be missing content that addresses women’s experience with violent partners because those experiences have a profound effect on sexuality and comfort. I wish there was at least one mention of this issue, but I haven’t found it yet. It’s a resource with a lot of information that just doesn’t apply without addressing this primary roadblock.

Developer Response ,

Dear nnjp,
I wanted to update you on a new Class we just launched: Navigating Through Sexual Trauma. It is feedback like yours that helps us to continue to grow and learn the many ways we can support our users. Thank you so much!

Dr. Harper
