Great App Helps Scoring

Not only is this App free, it is better than most that cost you money. The scorecard and stat functions are great for strength & weakness analysis after a round. But the accuracy of the hole by hole map are fantastic! You are able to easily move your target spots, seeing how far hazards are, and how much you will have left on your next shot. It is an essential tool for me during a round to precisely improve my course management. I score better and make better decisions with this App!

GPS not updating after a couple of holes

I have the Ace speaker and it’s a decent speaker with some helpful functionality. The problem is, even with the app set to always allow location, after 2-3 holes, the GOS distances to the green on the speaker stop updating. When it’s working, it’s great. It auto-advances holes, shows the front/middle/back to good accuracy (that’s really a testament to the phone though, there’s no GPS in the speaker itself), and you can setup some specifics to help pinpoint the distance even more.

If I wake up my phone and open the app, everything starts working again. I don’t use the app to score or track shots so if I did that I would probably not have this issue, but I don’t track my shots at this point. Maybe I’ll try that but I still think it should be able to keep the speaker updated more frequently. I have no issues with the Bluetooth connection though, that stays rock solid.

Good concept, poor implementation

After 1 round with the R1, I’m not very happy. GPS didn’t work at all. It just showed dashes for every data point on the GPS view on the laser. It showed GPS data sporadically in the app. Scoring was difficult. It doesn’t move along to the next hole as you’re playing. Wind data didn’t show up on the laser. The laser yardage was way off on one hole, causing a costly double bogey. Bluetooth constantly disconnects and reconnects, showing a ridiculous amount of alerts. Going to try it again today, then it will most likely be going back for a refund. Seems like they rushed this to market without working all of the bugs out. Could be great, but they have a ways to go. Work out the bugs, provide some enhanced scoring options, and enable scores to be pushed to GHIN like The Grint, and it would be a great device.
