Description

The Siedle App turns the iPhone or iPad into a mobile upgrade of a door intercom system from Siedle: It allows you to see who is standing outside your door, talk to visitors at the entrance and open the door if you choose – no matter where you are. The connection is established via WLAN or via the mobile phone network*. The video image is immediately available. The speech quality fulfills Siedle's stringent standards, and the door is opened by pressing the familiar key symbol with a fingertip. If you have several door intercoms, you can control them together via the Siedle App.

* The Siedle app transmits the audio signal via the data channel of the mobile phone network (VoIP).
Depending on the tarif and contractual conditions of the network provider, this use of the network may be inadmissible or entail costs. Some providers also attempt to prohibit or restrict VoIP functionality. The degree of voice quality depends on the local signal strength of the mobile network.

The Siedle app is the mobile complement to a door intercom system. For this reason, Siedle recommends including a wired indoor station in your system planning alongside the app.

The frame rate (number of frames per second) of the transmitted video stream from the Siedle system to the Siedle Server depends on the data transmission rate that is available for this connection at the time of the door call. The Siedle system dynamically adapts the frame rate to the available bandwidth:
* Minimum bandwidth: 2 MBit/s (approx. 5 frames/second)
* Recommended bandwidth: 4 MBit/s (approx. 10 frames/second)

iPhone / iPad:
– iOS version 15.0 or higher
– The Siedle App is optimized for iPhone and iPad use.

The frame rate (number of frames per second) of the transmitted video stream from the Siedle Server to the Siedle App depends on the data transmission rate that is available for the mobile network connection at the time of the door call:
* Bandwidth 2 MBit/s: approx. 5 frames/second are shown
* Bandwidth 4 MBit/s: approx. 10 frames/second are shown

Nice idea but slow and unreliable

When it works, it is great. But it works less than half the time. It is very slow so visitors end up punching another button which deactivates the first request before you can respond. And the software periodically disconnects and takes days to get the company to reconnect. It is very expensive so it really should work much better. Sadly it will take a decade to convince our building to upgrade. If you are thinking about it, wait until it works or try a different product as you will be stuck with it for years and the company doesn’t stand by the product.

Pretty good, but limited.

I just had the system installed and it does work well. The notifications are pretty much instant and opening the door works well. HOWEVER, although the indoor unit records pictures, I don’t understand what the VIDEO MEMORY is for on the app if the images aren’t saved and can be recalled later? I’ve directly emailed support but haven’t received a response. Would be a much higher rating but given the cost of the system, you’d think this would be an option to see who rang the bell.

Also, don’t understand why I can’t turn on the camera from the app but can from the monitor inside the house. This should also be included.

Notifications need improvement

This app unlocks my door and the audio and video works; however, call notifications should be persistent. If my iPhone is set to vibrate then I only receive a single ping that is easy to miss. Whose phone only rings once? If my phone is not set to vibrate then the situation is a little better but why should anyone be forced to have their phone set to ringer all of the time.
