Great App, But Subscription?

I got nothing bad to say about the app. It goes a step further than the Kasa app and gives you Siri integration but the turn off to me is the stupid subscription for an app like this. You login using your Kasa login, it’s not hosting anything that I can see, it’s not requiring the developer any server maintenance or any constant upkeep other than development which appears to be a new build monthly which is great but there’s no need for a subscription based approach. They’re only wanting $.49 a month which is just an annoyance amount in the first place. If $6 is what they want for it (presuming it is as that’s about the cost of a years worth) then ask for it. We live in a subscription based world and this app is just a trigger type app that’s added a feature of supplying Siri integration, not an app supplying anything requiring the need of a reoccurring charge.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for using Watt and for writing the review, I would like to start by saying that the app is free and that you can use the app without using any subscription.
The vast majority of Watt users do not have a subscription, which is totally ok for me.
But some users have the possibility and are supporting this project by becoming a patron (that I am very grateful to them).
At the moment I have no server costs but I still have to buy Kasa and Tapo devices to test and how can we quantify the cost of the hours in development, every weekend and weekdays at night I spend time developing and correcting bugs. You’ve already compared Watt and Kasa app and seen the differences and TP-Link they have a full-time team.
Patron's money that I am receiving is being used so that from time to time I take my family out to dinner to make up for the time I'm not with them.
You have an option of $ .49 per month but there is also an annual option of $ 4.99 ("Buy me a Bag of Marshmallows") but again I reaffirm no subscription is required to use the app.
If you want to exchange some ideas with me you can send an email to voless.app@gmail.com
Stay safe :)

Decent app

As the title says decent app, helps me track the wattage per device and space with a cost associated with it . I am trying it out and buying the dev a marshmallow ;) every month. So far what I like is I can group devices into a space and view the total wattage/cost for that space you can turn on/off all plugs in that space pretty quick as well.

Dev if you see this any plans on enabling feature such as schedule, timer, away, or smart actions?

Fantastic App for Kasa Energy Monitoring!

Tried the app and instantly shelled out the $5 yearly sub. App is fantastic for monitoring your energy use if you bought into the Kasa Smart Plug ecosystem. Very intuitive UI to check your usage per device, room, or home. The app has to use your kasa login, so ended up separating things like cameras into another kasa account. Wishlist: 1. Ability to rename devices. 2. Ability to give a custom name, independent of the official custom name set via Kasa. 3. Ability to tag devices, and filter by tags. 4. Directly show independent plugs, in the case of the kasa power strip. 5. Ability to graph per space, and not just one graph for everything.
