How it works:
Scan your current glasses using a smartphone, laptop camera, and any standard-size magnetic card.
We’ll tell you your sphere power, cylinder, axis, and pupillary distance (PD).
Is this legit? Of course it is — our results have been clinically tested and proven to be as accurate as standard acceptable lensmeters and PD meters.
You can use the Liingo Rx Reader if you...
- are a healthy individual, 18 years or older
- have stable vision and are happy with your current prescription
- have a single-vision prescription
- have a sphere measurement between -6.00 and +3.00
- have a cylinder measurement that does not exceed -2.50
You can’t use the Liingo Rx Reader if you...
- wear progressive, multifocal, or bifocal lenses
- have a prescription that includes a prism measurement
- take any medication that affects your vision
- have any illness or condition that affects eye health (rely on your eye doc for that!)
Look — this app definitely doesn’t replace your eye doctor. It’s important to have an eye exam every 1 or 2 years, even if you aren’t experiencing vision problems. Liingo Rx Reader is designed to help with all those times in-between exams when you simply want to verify your prescription, or order new glasses online.

I didn’t believe it until I tried it.
I was pleasantly surprised how accurately it read my prescription. The best part about it is being able to shop directly for glasses that include YOUR prescription after the app reads your prescription. In their store, You can digitally try them on right from the site and they have an option to actually try up to 5 different frames on at your home. If you don’t like the look or fit, you can return the ones you don’t like.
Inaccurate prescription
I just got a new prescription and wanted to see how accurate this was. Followed all the guidelines to a t and it got my PD and cylinder correct, but the sphere was way off. I did this 3 times in a row, I got the wrong sphere measurement every time. Oddly it was the same incorrect value each time. I’d recommend if you don’t actually know your prescription to go get it checked by your eye doctor. I purchased a new pair of glasses online with a year-old prescription I hadn’t used before and it was ever so slightly off. It drove me crazy and I had to use it for about 2 months before I could get new glasses with a fixed Rx, which I just received a couple days ago. Everything was corrected by my doctor and my vision is now super sharp and comfortable. So all I’m saying is, it’s better to have it examined by a doctor than to be stuck with the wrong Rx. Even if it’s a hair off, you’ll notice it, and it won’t feel good

FYI—You have to enable pop-ups/redirects
The app worked fine and the process to actually scan my glasses, using my phone/computer paired together, was fairly quick and easy. However, I did the entire process twice, and my prescription details didn’t show on my computer screen as expected. I did it a third time thinking to enable pop-ups/redirects, and then it did work, and my prescription details showed up on my computer screen, but it was really frustrating that that wasn’t initially part of the instructions. Not sure if that’s accurate for all browsers, but I was using Chrome. Customer service was GREAT to respond (via text) when I had issues, so that was definitely a bonus!
