Description

The new Wing Q App offers wireless remote control for WING Personal Mixing Consoles on iPhones. The Q-App supports Monitoring functions for live and studio applications. Multiple instances of the app can be connected to the hardware simultaneously, allowing both musicians and technicians to adjust the bus mixes.

WING Q offers the same personal monitoring functions of WING CoPilot in a condensed and optimized way for smartphones. The Monitor Mixing UI is reduced to the essential parameters of personalized monitoring applications and offers an additional lock function to reduce the risk of accidentally selecting the wrong bus. Just like its big brother, WING Q allows adjusting bus mixes via single channel sends or MCA (mix control association). MCAs are similar to DCAs and allow to control a group of channel levels by a single control.

What’s New:

• New native tablet user interface
• Faster and more reliable network connection
• Significantly reduced battery drain
• Various bug fixes and improvements
• New offline/demo mode

Features:

• Select one of the 16 stereo aux buses
• Lock icon prevents unintentional bus change
• Mix adjustment based on individual channels or MCAs
• Name and customize your MCAs the way that makes sense to you
• All input channel sends feature level, width and pan controls
• Control the bus master volume, stereo width and panorama

Requirements:

• Requires a wireless router connected to the WING Personal Mixing Console
• WING-Q requires WING console firmware V1.12 or higher

What’s New

Version 1.3.1

• Fixed UI for some iPad models

Disappointed

I’m a drummer that plays for many church campuses. This is one of the worst applications for IE monitoring I’ve used. The biggest problem is adjusting db levels on the fly. Holding your finger til the channel highlights before making a db adjustment with the fader is just crazy. Then the faders are way way way too small. Everyone I see that uses an application for IE monitors, are using their phones for the monitor console. Mine is a iPhone XR. If there’s settings I can adjust to fix theses issues that’s great, but my argument would be I should have to do that. Drummers while rehearsing or playing live can’t hold out on a chord while making a fast adjustment and come back in on the next measure. We need a quick slid with a finger.

Sorry to beat you up on this review, just seems like this app was not given to enough different musicians before launch date.

Looking forward to an updated version.

Usual lousy support from Music Tribe

Wow, the app hasn’t been updated in a year and I’m guessing it doesn’t support the latest WING firmware. What a joke. I expected it to be bad and barely work, but while our console shows up, it won’t connect no matter how many times I tap it or enter the IP address manually. As disappointing as it is to have to pay for third part apps, Mixing Station is far superior to any app Music arrive has put out.

Update: I was able to connect after a few more tries. I’m willing to give it a chance, but there are a lot of problems. The faders are tiny and it only works in landscape mode. It would be great if you could have four faders while holding your phone vertically for more control. Also, you should be able to swipe between fader banks instead of hunting for a little button. The whole point of an app like this is to allow musicians to make quick adjustments on the fly, and the app should be designed with that as the priority.

Improvements needed

The faders are very small, which makes it difficult to use.

It drains the battery very quickly and overheats the phone.

Allen & Heath’s monitor mixer app is much better. I would suggest looking at their software as one to imitate. The faders are much larger, and you can scroll through instead of having to page through fader banks.
