Description
BAND for Kids is a group communication app designed for youth (ages 12 and under) to stay connected with their families, sports teams, scout troops, and more. BAND for Kids is a safe space for adolescents to interact within a private social platform, while allowing parents and guardians to moderate activity.
◆ Easy to get started:
- Kids can get started by following these three steps:
1) Download BAND for Kids app to a mobile phone or tablet.
2) Use an email address to sign up (parent consent is required).
3) Join a private Band by parents or guardian invitation.
◆ How parents and kids communicate together safely:
- Kids cannot join groups they were NOT invited to.
- Parents can monitor which group their kids have joined.
- Parents can follow their children’s BAND activity by also joining their groups.
◆ Safer environment for kids to communicate:
- No harassment from strangers.
- No advertisements and in-app purchases.
- Kids cannot create or invite themselves to Bands/Pages.
- Kids cannot search or join public Bands.
◆ Available features for kids:
- Admin of the Band can determine which features are available to the Kids users.
- With BAND for Kids, adolescent users can publish posts on the Community Board and attach files, images, or videos to the posts. They can also chat with other members of their Bands.
◆ Accessibility:
- BAND for Kids is available on any device including smart phones, tablets, and PC.
◆ Private and Secure
- BAND has acquired the SOC 2 and 3 certificates for its privacy protection and ISO/IEC27001 Certification for outstanding information security management systems.

Overall good but it needs changes
So this app is a app for extracurriculars right? Yes, and it serves its purpose well. But if it’s for extracurriculars, then why does a group have to be approved for this version of the app? I don’t think a single soul on this planet is about to be saying something vulgar to the band group for their tap dance class. Please just remove this feature. It is a very inconvenient feature and also quite unnecessary.
Really safe and secure for kids
There are limited features on the kids version so I don’t have to worry about my child clicking ads or starting random chat conversations. You also have to be invited to a private Band to join which is nice, so there’s very little room for me to feel like I don’t know what my child is capable of doing on the app or their public visibility outside of communicating with her friends and teammates.

Scam?
When I was trying to log my daughter into this app it asked for my credit card to approve my daughter’s account…why do you need my credit card to verify my child’s account. This is the second time I have had to approve access to the app for her and she still can’t get in using the information she used setting it up. Even when she tries to reset her password it doesn’t recognize her phone number. I give up, and I will be requesting that our team uses another app next year.
