Enroll today through your American Family agent and enjoy up to a 10% introductory discount on your car insurance. Download and register the app, then start driving — and show off your safe driving skills!

Most drivers will save money by participating in DriveMyWay, though higher-risk drivers may see their rate increase.

MilesMyWay

Take control of what you pay with MilesMyWay!

If you’re a low mileage driver or have an extra vehicle that isn’t driven often, this app could help you save on what you pay for insurance.

MilesMyWay is a way for you to earn savings based on how much, or in this case how little, you drive. The app records your mileage, displays how many miles you’ve driven, and gives you an idea of how much savings you’re on track to earn.

Sign up for the MilesMyWay program through your local American Family agent to receive an invite to download and use the app at no cost. We’ll also mail you a MilesMyWay sensor to place in your car.

The app is user friendly and is helpful. I appreciate the new awareness that I have of my driving. I am also more motivated and challenged to improve my score. I gave four stars due to a couple glitches within the app. For instance I was on the freeway traveling home at or below the speed limit. However the app incorrectly generated a speeding event on two occasions. I have also experienced an incorrect phone usage event. I was advised to mark myself as a passanger.

Not an improvement in my opinion

While this has nothing to do with the app itself, it’s silly that American Family feels the need to baby sit drivers to be willing to offer them a “discount”…which you’ll never see because “rates are rising and we have no control”. That said, this app is far less intuitive and more difficult to work with than the old one they used to use. For one, my wife rarely drives but has to manually change every trip to “passenger”, which is much more difficult to do than in the old app. Tap, swipe, change status, back arrow, swipe again, change status, back arrow… Why not have individual trips accesible and manageable individually, rather than what seems like an endless loop of trips all in one group? And, if you don’t swipe back through to your most recent trip defore leaving the app, the next time in it brings you back to whatever previous trip you got to when making adjustments. Also uses battery in the background. It accounts for 30% of my total battery usage. That’s ridiculous. It also took a lot longer to figure out how to understand what info the app does and does not provide. Not a fan…

Invasive and inaccurate

I travel a lot out of the country and this app not only drains my battery but also overheats my phone due to the need for constant background location. The only way it doesn’t damage my phone is if I completely uninstall when I leave and reinstall when I return. I tried just turning off the location and it harassed me with pop ups every five minutes. It only doesn’t register when you are finished driving until sometimes more than five minutes after I’ve turned my car off and left the vehicle- making the phone usage inaccurate

If you don’t use it for three days in a row it unenrolls you and sometimes every deactivated your account! I work from home and when I’m not traveling sometimes I don’t drive for a week at a time! I walk! I shouldn’t have to take a drive everyday to make sure this app doesn’t stop working or take away my discount. Not driving should increase my discount!
