Real customer testimonials:

"Finally - This program is exactly what I was looking for. Easy to use but very effective and comprehensive. And the best: Pay once and good! Thanks to the developer!"

"Just good! - Comprehensive and zero effort to use. For me the best app to edit the EXIF data of my photos. The presets are great and finally no in-app purchases! Keep it up!"

"IPad version - it is here - Many thanks to the developer. Now I can add location information to photos on iPad. The developer also responds very quickly to requests and suggestions for improvement."

"For a long time I was missing a possibility on the iPhone / iPad to store the location data of photos, because I still shoot a lot with "old" DSLRs and they do not have GPS. With this, this also works from Apple's photo app.
Without complications. That's how it should be!"

The app works with:
- All photos in your iPhone or iPad photo library, except RAW images.
- Photos in iCloud (Files app)
- Photos in photo stream

What the app doesn't do:
- Changing the filename: EXIF isn't about filenames. Also iOS does not allow the renaming of photos in the Photos Library.
- Changing the order of photos in the Photos Library. Apple decided that the only sorting criteria in iOS Photos Library is the date the photo has been added to the library.

Question: What is EXIF data?
EXIF stands for "Exchangeable Image File Format."
When you take or receive a photo with a digital camera, it contains invisible metadata. This is information attached to the photo that describes, for example, certain properties and settings of the camera or even the place where the picture was taken. Services that can read this data are able to collect the circumstances and contexts of the photos and match them with certain other events (e.g. calendar entries, motion profiles, etc.).

Question: Why doesn't the app handle PNG?
Unfortunately, the Photos API does not allow modification of PNG files, but saves them as JPG. Therefore, to avoid confusion, imagExif cannot edit PNGs.

Great app

Great app and super responsive developer. This is perfect for my work as a photojournalist.

Had a couple questions and a request to make my workflow better. Developer added my suggestion!!

Mine doesn’t work

I bought it hoping for a five star solution to my IPTC editing needs, with presets and batch editing. Unfortunately it neither saves presets nor edits to the image for me. The process just stops there. It also appears so far that if presets could be saved, they would only save individual IPTC fields that were changed at the moment. I need to create full IPTC templates (presets) for my job. Clearly, it was not intended to malfunction. Get this fixed and it could be a five star product. As for now it's unusable and a wasted purchase.

There’s a huge need among professional photographers for an app like this to function similarly to Photo Mechanic (and not as an EXIF eraser as most of these apps are).

Here’s to hoping this gets fixed so I can use it, and revise my rating accordingly. Thank you.

Disappointed, nothing special

I decided to purchase this app but found out that it does the same thing that my iPhone 7 will already do. And that is change the date and location. The problem is that apparently it does not actually change the order of the photo in the main recent gallery. That’s what I wanted to do.

When saving and looking at the camera gallery, that is all photos, the saved image is in the same place it was originally. I wanted the image to be discovered at the location where a new date was edited. In other words, in date order.

Anyone looking at the date could tell that The new date is not real. I thought this app would have access to the actual date data that iPhone uses to order the images in the main gallery. I don’t care about the rest of the functions. There are quite a few of them but I don’t have much interest in them. They are superfluous for me.

It looks like I just wastedWe dollars and $3.99.

Developer Response ,

And once again, a highly constructive criticism from someone who didn't even begin to take the time to try out the app:

Could it be that you "rated" the wrong app here? A competitor of ImagExif behaves exactly as you describe.

This app here does significantly more than your iPhone can. If your iPhone can process over 40 individual EXIF data points without my app, your iPhone can do more than any other iPhone on the planet - congrats on that! :)

About your problem with the order in your gallery: There you succumb to a misconception - in the Photos Library the images are displayed in the order they are added to the library - NOT by the date you took it. You can only get your desired display order by clicking on "All Photos" in the Photos Library. There you can see that my app works absolutely right.
In all system libraries like datepickers etc., however, you have the first-mentioned display format.
So: In both of your described problems there is no error in the app.

If you want to call the price of a small café latte a waste, you can undo any app purchase in the app store. It can be read in the purchase confirmation emails from Apple :-)
