Description

wandering in the right direction. you like to wander around, but want to know if you're getting closer, or not? voila, use iocali. listen and feel, and you'll get there.

we'll get you to your destination, but we won't navigate you. you remain in control. without being distracted by your screen, we just let you know if you are getting closer or further away from your destination, or a sharing friend. wander around, in the right direction. find each other.

sure, if the app is open, we'll show the map, and your track, and inform you about your distance, and there are a few other cool features... but, we do suggest not to loose yourself in it... get out of your screen and just switch iocali into the background and let the sounds and vibrations guide you.

how does it work? well, play around and figure it out. you'll probably make it work :)

but for the guide-loving-nerds amongst us, some instructions here: first, you have to find your destination: just point on the map, use the search function, or accept a link from someone else. then, you might want to click the start-button. you'll hear and feel periodically if you're getting closer, or not. that's it, basically.

still reading? ok... i'll go on... you can share your live location with another iocali user! how cool. to do this, press or long-press the little whale in the upper left corner. you get a link that you can share, using your favourite messaging app for example. if anyone accepts, you will see that as a number next to your share-button. if it is you who is following, you'll see a whale appearing in front of your share-button. want to stop sharing? click the share button again. want to stop following? click the whale in front. if you stop sharing no one can see your live location anymore. if you restart the sharing, they will. if you want a new sharing session (so no old follower can follow you), restart by holding the share button longer.

it would be a good time to stop reading and just install and try it, won't you think? anyway, if you're still not convinced, we also offer the following. your destinations, tracks and sharing sessions will be saved, so you can navigate there or restart them again. in the list view. slide any saved location / track and you'll be able to open it with your navigation app to give you a real route planning, if you really need it. also you can export the track to a GPX file, if you like. press and hold an destination or track and you can give it a name you can recognise later on. iocali is highly configurable, check it out in the options screen. oh, if you do, do play with the 'game mode' (it's in the advanced options), which basically hides your destination (or you, if you share your live location). so, you have to use the sound and vibration in order to arrive.

warning: this is a tiny app for cool people, who either like to find each other or any destination by wandering around, or who like to stare at logo of a falling whale (tell us on social media if you know where it is a reference to). It is NOT for people who need to navigate quickly from A to B. why not? because, we don't give you a route, we'll just tell you if you are getting closer, and if you are going into the right direction.

oh, some privacy info: we do save your track, in a google database. but, we don't share any personal identifiable information with it. and, besides, we do offer you the option to be 'forgotten', because we do care for your privacy. however, for the app to work optimally, you should allow location tracking, and you should make sure it is set to 'always'. that is, if you want to use the app in the background, which is what makes iocali, iocali. we’re only saving your location if you are dropping a point on the map, when you are in 'sharing' mode, and/or when you in 'navigation' mode.
