Word Games – PuzzWord 4+

Fun, but…

It’s a fun and challenging game, but some of the words are SO obscure - especially if you’re not a Brit (lol). “Oasts”? “Suint”? I guess you might know those if you’re a sheep farmer who brews their own beer?? Update: The dictionary update seems to be helping- not nearly as many “out there” words. Updating to 4 stars. Second update: wow! A developer who actually works on making updates based on user reviews! Now you can choose a setting for “common words” or “all words”. (“All words is really challenging if you are a Scrabble dictionary officianado. 😉) I’m updating to 5 stars- I really enjoy playing this game. I’m sure ads will kick in eventually, but I think it’s worth sitting through a few ads - it’s just like playing the daily “Wordle” game!

Dear developer, the update to the design is lovely, however would you please make it possible to choose either the black screen or the white screen? I love playing your app, but I have epilepsy and literally cannot read letters on a black screen. I know there are other people with a similar problem, so it would be wonderful if we could choose. Thanks!

Sometimes fun, sometimes frustrating

I don’t understand why this game sometimes resets/refreshes and clears the board when you’re in the middle of trying to solve the puzzle. There is no countdown timer, and at times it will stay up without changing for quite a while. I have never timed it, per se but there is quite a bit of inconsistency in how long you might have to solve the each puzzle. I have enjoyed it for a couple of months, but I am looking for a similar but different game, because it’s really annoying to spend time solving a puzzle and then have the whole thing reset, without seeing any kind of countdown timer or anything. Also, FYI, if you are working on a puzzle and close the window, it does not save your progress-It just resets the puzzle.

Meh Wordle imitation

Meh Wordle imitation, no stats options, and a bug will tell you that a word has a double letter when it doesn’t. For example, if the correct word is “STARE” and you enter “STEER” the program will tell you that you have two green letters and three blue letters instead of two and two. The developer response doesn’t address this. After you win a game, a pop-up blocks the middle of the board, so you can’t do a screenshot. One solution is AUXIN. Another BISPS, which I got only because “WISPS” was wrong, and I had to try every letter for the missing first letter combination before the game told me I won because I had finally guess a nonexistent word not in the dictionary. I lost a long streak to “BAMPS,” which isn’t in the dictionary. (Plurals are definitely over represented.) I’m about to lose another game to a word that isn’t in the dictionary: I have *I**I but there is no ACDEJLNORSTVY, and even if I cheat with a crossword puzzle solver, it can’t identify any possible words. Clearly no one tested this, but the price is right. Better than the other Wordle knockoff, but I’m guessing someone will do something even better within the next couple of weeks.

Thank you for the feedback. We are actually in the process of adding stats to the game and you should see it in the next update. We have heard confusion about double letters and have elaborated on how they work on our "How To Play" page.
