Features Continued

- Online/offline indicators on the application's home page for each camera
- Variable PTZ speed control offers more dynamic camera control versus constant speed control
- PTZ Control screen has an immersive full screen experience when using it in landscape mode
- Floating Presets Window
- Tilt Control Mode which when turned on allows the user to control PT functionality by tilting their device
- Support for Keyboard Control
- If a physical keyboard is attached to the user's device (such as an Apple Magic/Smart Keyboard Folio or any Bluetooth keyboard the user has paired to the device), the user can use the arrow keys to control PT and use the + and - key to control Zoom.
- Supports Voice-activated presets (requires helper app) which allows the user to summon a preset simply by saying its name
- There is an Image, Exposure, Color Section
- There is an OSD Menu section that allows users to control OSD right from the app
- There is a Config section that displays all of the Cameras configuration preferences and allows the user to modify IP address settings
- There is a Stream to RTMP section that allows the user to encode their camera's RTSP stream to a specified RTMP URL.
- There is a section that allows the user to view the Camera's manual as well as its tutorial video from the PTZOptics channel.
- The app features a "Volunteer Mode" that, when activated, disables users from deleting, editing, or adding cameras until it is deactivated. This is intended for users that want to pass their device to volunteers/employees but don't want them to modify settings.
- Support for Sony and Panasonic PTZ cameras (PTZ Only).

What’s New

Version 1.28

- The option to specify an HTTP port has been provided to prevent cameras that are online from showing up as offline.
Previously, a VISCA command was sent to each camera to get its online/offline status, but this proved to be slow and lead to unresponsiveness and large wait times on the home screen.
- This also resulted in the app crashing
- The app now attempts to establish an HTTP connection to each camera to determine its online/offline status, which leads to far better responsiveness on the home screen
- The “edit” menu of the app now provides info on where to find the camera speed settings. Camera specific speed controls can be implemented in a future update.
- Network scan is now more reliable
- Some users have pointed out that the PTZ joystick is too large on iPad. The size of the joystick has been reduced for larger devices.
- The size should remain the same for smaller devices such as iPhone and iPod Touch
- The OSD Menu now displays a button to disable auto tracking when connected to a Move or SE camera, since the OSD Menu does not display when auto tracking is enabled.
- A bug where the preloading screen did not display when launching the IEC Menu has been fixed. Users will have to wait until the app has gathered all necessary information from the camera before being able to alter settings in this section.
- Full support has been implemented for the PTZOptics Move Series and SE Series.
- The Link line of cameras can be added to the app, but their compatibility has not been tested, as there are currently no test devices available from the Link series.
- A subtle change to the app’s design has been implemented (shadows on the home screen, bigger text in certain areas, etc.)
- A user pointed out that the mute switch currently only applies to the PTZ Control menu. This has been extended to apply everywhere.
- The app should generally feel more stable and responsive
- Users now have the ability to select whether to use MJPEG or RTSP to access their camera’s feed
- This option can be configured when adding a new camera to the app or editing an existing camera
- This option applies only to the PTZ Control interface, since that is where response lag is generally a matter of concern
- The OSD Menu does not show on the MJPEG stream, so this section will continue to display the RTSP feed even if the user has selected MJPEG for a particular camera
- The Image quality may be more important than less input response time in the IEC menu, so this section continues to show the RTSP feed even if MJPEG is selected
- In general, the MJPEG stream will be of lower quality and framerate than the RTSP stream, but have far less delay
- There are three sizes available for the presets panel at this time
- The ability to quickly switch between cameras has been added
- This can be accessed via the icon next to the Voice Presets button on the PTZ Control section

Great solution with unique features

For a free solution this control app offers some wonderful options for controlling and managing your PTZ cameras from a simple mobile device. It’s nice to have a preview, control and adjustment capabilities in one app. I would highly recommend downloading the voice control app as well that adds some unique control capabilities. I’ll be eager to see what else is added in the future. Thanks PTZOptics!

Needs some improvement

PTZ control is sluggish, difficult to use in a live event. Need a faster method to switch between cameras. Volunteer Mode needs to be restricted to PTZ control only, nothing else. Camera selection screen should allow for smaller tiles when more than 3 cameras are in use, no scrolling required. Would love to see camera presets stored in the camera so all apps/devices use the same set of presets.

It works but…

First, it’s about time that the live view and the camera presets we’re both on one screen. What took so long?

But secondly, this looks like it was designed by a child. Seriously, you need to hire a UI person.
