Description

With this app you are able to remotely control your Mac from anywhere in your apartment. (Wi-Fi required)

Switch it off from the bedroom, turn up the volume from the kitchen, control a full keynote presentation or just start a video sitting on the couch in front of your Mac Mini that is connected to your HDTV.

No hassling around with IP addresses, nothing to config, just install the free helper application on your Mac and it just works. Thank you bonjour.

Even older macOS versions (with Front Row) are supported, just make sure your Mac is running at least OS X 10.4.

Key Features:
• This is the free version of jfControl including 6 layouts from the full version: System, iTunes, Finder, DVD Player, Tools and the Num Pad.
• Turn off up to 2 Macs with only one button press.
• Change the system volume, start any application, send your Mac to sleep/shut it down or just lock the screen by pressing a button.
• Includes a num pad and a tool for copy/paste/undo/redo work.
• Uses WiFi. No line-of-sight to your Mac needed.

How does it work?

You have to install a free helper application on your Mac. (Yes your Mac, Windows is not supported) Download it from http://www.digitalsirup.com

What’s New

Version 2.8

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon.

Updated for all the new screen sizes and iOS versions.

Added in-app help that covers the most common problems.

Merged the text pad and the copy paste pad into a new layout that is called "tools".

Removed the iTunes controls from the system layout, unfortunately on newer macOS versions this does no longer work without updating the macOS helper application.

Many design and layout improvements. Can now be used in landscape mode.

Added DVD Layout known from the full version.

Added Tools Layout known from the full version.

Added Num Pad known from the full version.

Bewildered; am I missing something?

It wasn't intuitive in my opinion. All it did (as far as I could tell) was allow you to go up and down the finder list in column format. It was initially nifty to peruse the items and watch this from across the room, but I couldn't open the applications I wanted to. Drove me a bit nuts. However it does navigate your HD (Not hi-def) rather efficiently.
One large problem.. The window/font was so small, I couldn't see it from my seat across the room.
For me, that made it useless.

It is possible that I just do not understand the uses for it, or missed key features. Or maybe it just simply doesn't work for my purposes.
I will admit I have not used it in a while. So there's a good chance of inacuracy on my part.
There must be a use that has some people entirely jazzed. And that's great!
Please though, if I have entirely missed the point, can someone correct me?

It gets one extra star for being free

Won't work consitantly

I downloaded the free app and the required Mac software for my MacBook Pro 2.33 running X.4.11 and the program ran intermittantly -- I contacted Mr. Kammerer who guided me through the known config issues and the app still remains unstable; when I considered the non-free version this is the response I got:

"Hello,

please do not download the non-free version, because something is blocking the signals and I really don't know what the problem is.

The last thing you can try is disabling the automatic configuration and setting up the ip adress directly, but I dont think this will help."

Tried it again tonight and ti won't work -- looks like it could be a great app and I wish that the vol up and down buttons were continuous like "iTap", for example.

volume control problem

I wanted to try the lite version before paying for it. The lite version just seems to work with Itunes and the free
Remote app is much more intuitive. I was interested in being able to control more things on my computer. The volume control did not work in itunes, so I hesitate to get this until it is fixed.
