Great capabilities

Buxfer has great capabilities - everything I’m looking for including forecasting and sync. I wish the iPad app had the look and feel of the website (for example the ribbon at the top, the dashboard, etc.). Rather the IPad app seems to look and feel like the phone app which is limited as compared to the website.

Stubborn

I’ve used them all: Quicken, MSMoney, Mint, Personal Capital. This one is the most versatile and easiest to personalize. Recently they have been adding features and improving sync. Support has improved as well. It is the easiest app to use across platforms too. Reports is weakest part but you can often figure out some way to display what you want. The two biggest lacks I’ve found is there is no paycheck entry window and you cannot split a transaction between income and expense categories.

Addendum: reluctantly moving on at the end of the month. Whereas Quicken and MoneyWiz are intent on improving, Buxfer has stubbornly refused to implement complex transactions, those with transfers and mixed expense/income splits. Their reports are subpar too. I invested 6 years in them. I never really used IOUs, and wonder how many do though, of course, they are great for roomies and friends. Buxfer is elegant but still incomplete. Splits cannot be entered until the transaction is saved first, for example. I wish them well nevertheless.

Love the service, app needs work

I really like this service, and the web app is great. However, the mobile app needs some improvements to be useful for anything other than a dashboard. It is (apparently) lacking interfaces to edit or delete most entities (tags, transactions, budget lines). The UI does not really follow the iOS design language, and some animated affordances and screens are obviously jerky and slow — detracting from this being a quick reference or a snappy data entry tool.
