"BEST DICTATION APP FOR THE IPHONE"
"UNBELIEVABLE FOR PHYSICIANS"

Introducing myDictation Pro, the application that turns your iPhone into the best voice recorder and dictation system on the planet. The myDictation application is full featured and allows the user to record any number of voice recordings or dictations and store them on your iPhone. To export the recordings there is a built-in web server to allow you to download the files using any web browser and you can even download all files at once to a .zip archive. Alternately for physicians, with a single click, you can upload them wirelessly using either a Wi-Fi or cellular connection to the myDictation server for transcription by your existing transcriptionist. All data transfer between your iPhone and the myDictation server is handled in a secure, HIPAA compliant fashion.

Please visit www.mydictation.com for a complete instructional and demonstration video.

The voice recorder has many features including:
1)Record in MP3 format
2)Visual representation of the recording for easy editing
3)Insert into the middle of the recording
4)Cut any section in the middle of a recording using the cut sliders
5)Rewind 5 seconds button for easy review of what was just said
6)Use with the iPhone upside down to speak directly into the mic
7)Designed by a physician

The app requires an account on myDictation.com. The myDictation server allows your existing transcriptionist to download recordings and upload completed transcriptions for retrieval by you from anywhere on the Internet using only a web browser. All uploading and downloading is handled in a secure HIPAA compliant fashion.

Don’t pay hundreds of dollars for additional hardware for a dictation system. Stop losing dictation with cumbersome tape or digital systems. Stop sending dictation and transcription in a non-HIPAA compliant fashion. Send dictations from anywhere with a cellular connection. Try myDictation today.

Bait and Switch?

I've tried 6 to 10 iPhone voice note apps. I use a recorder for capturing quick "To Do" thoughts In May of 09 I replaced my previous favorite ("Recorder" by Retronyms). My feelings about this switch were always a bit mixed, and perhaps driven in large part because myDictation tells me how many notes I've accumulated on the logo on the iPhone's desktop. It was also faster than some of the others I had tried, though not necessarily faster than "Recorder".

myDictation was a free download. When I first downloaded it, I'm reasonably sure it offered the ability to download some or all of my accumulated notes as a zip file though my WiFi. I didn't often download my notes, reviewing them on the iPhone instead. Some months ago I wanted to download some. Upon trying, it told me the app had expired, and I needed to download the enhanced "Pro" version. It was still free. However, I did not allow me to access or download my notes on the earlier non-pro version. If there were other differneces between the Pro and non-Pro versions they didn't do anything for me.

Sometime later I tried to ZIP and download all my notes again. This time it told me I had to register, at ~$4.95 to download my notes. I registered. It also offered a more expensive registration, apparently for physicians that I declined since it appeared to offer no additional funcionality I was intersted in. That was ~March 2010. Now, about two months later, upon trying to download my notes again, it tells me that the application has expired and I need to pay $9.99 to purchase a subscription to the application. Meanwhile, as this application (or my 3G firmware) has "evolved" the apps start up time has gotten significantly slower. At this point, on the AppStore page it does note that the app is free, though lower down it notes the $9.95 and $4.95 fees. I don't recall the page noting that a year ago when I first starting using this app. I would have prefered that it charge me up front for the initial download rather than later hitting me with additonal fees. The application continues to be funcational, though without note download capabiltiy since I have not paid the $9.95 subscription fee. However, the way this has gone, if I continue using myDication without subscribing, I suspect that at some point it will no longer work, and will no longer let me listen to my accumulated messages.

In light of the slower start, and what I see as bait and switch tactics, I think it's time to revert back to Recorder (which does let me download notes, though only in AIFF format) or go looking for since published voice recorder applications.

Unreliable !

The actual recording part of this app works well. What doesn't work is The servers that are supposed to be supported by the company. Nearly every weekend, the servers shut down and my dictation cannot be uploaded. Consequently stat or urgent transcription cannot be done and I am left to go back to the old fallback, Dragon dictate. There is no customer service available on the weekends. I think the developer who is an orthopedist thinks that just because he wasn't on call as an orthopedist that he doesn't have to be on call as a software owner. That is crap! Complete disrespect for the chumps who bought it.
