Great app for tracking activity and inspiring workouts

I use Vitality Today to upload my activity stats to Activity, which makes earning points very easy since it integrates with Apple Health, which automatically collects activity data from my phone, Apple Watch, etc. I also love the ability to quickly track my Vitality points and when I’m ready to spend the points, it also makes that easy. It’s also easy to use the app for earning points from gym visits and participating in events like races. Lastly I like the ability to select and track personal pathways through the app. Overall I’m very pleased with the app and highly recommend it to anyone that’s a Vitality user.

Sleep function needs work & more activity submission options

Overall a decent app, but the sleep function only works about half the time. Only about half the days of successful 8-hour nights actually stick and get recorded on the 30-day cycle.

Another way the app could be improved is by adding more options to the activity submission form. For example, the only workout submission option there is is “gym workout,” which is 10 points. I take a High Intensity Interval Training class twice every week, which should get me more points than a “standard workout,” but there’s no way to submit higher-intensity gym activities/classes, so I’m missing out on hundreds of points just because I don’t have a wrist activity tracker that tracks my heart rate during those classes and would likely result in at least getting some credit for the high-intensity HIIT classes and circuit training I do several times per week. Another good addition to that form would be dance/movement classes. That is just as intense a workout as anything else, if not more intense, and should be something that can be given credit for.

Developer Response ,

Hello faiththemurderino26,

We regret if not all of your Sleep Well activity has been correctly credited. To assist you with troubleshooting, can you please reach out to us at MOBILE_APP_COMMUNICATION@thevitalitygroup.com?

Additionally, we are happy to accept dance / movement classes as a type of gym workout. One of the reasons we track all gym attendance as Standard Workouts is the non-uniformity of different types of workouts, though we regret your intense workouts are not worth additional points.

Sleep tracking is horrible

I have to use this app in order to get HSA contributions from my employer. There are two major issues that I have with the app. Sleep and meditation tracking.
The sleep tracker stops and starts over if you wake up. It is rare that anyone has 8 straight hours of uninterrupted sleep. Most of us wake up at least a few times in the night. Usually to use the bathroom, or just a quick awakening we don’t even remember before falling back asleep. The expected straight 8 hours uninterrupted expectation is unrealistic. Vitality already has the ability to sync some information with Apple Health. It should allow you to sync your sleep from apps that realistically track your sleep patterns such as FitBit and AppleWatch.
Second is the way mindfulness is tracked. Unless you have an AppleWatch, there is no way to track mindfulness sessions without paying for an expensive mindfulness app. There are free ones out there, but Vitality only tracks from two that you must pay for.
