The Best App for Field Reps

I am a sales rep for a mid-sized foodservice distributor. I work out in the field 90% of my time. I would be toast without Outfield.

I use it all day, everyday.

I tested every other CRM in existence (Badger, Salesforce, Map My Customers, etc). Outfield is by far the best.

Setting a route, adjusting a route, adding new targets on the fly, planning my day, logging activity, all of this is superior on Outfield.

Every morning, I quickly set a route for the day. Then as changes happen (they always do), I can quickly adjust the order of my route and who I need to see.

All activity is logged and I can measure how my performance stacked up to my goals.

Proof is in the pudding.

Most reps for my company don’t use Outfield. I’m #1 in the company both in terms of growth % and dollar amount growth since I started using it.

Outfield keeps me organized and motivated to put my head down and crush it.

It’s not the prettiest app, but it’s the most functional. Once you get used to it, you’ll wonder how you survived without it.

Highly recommend.

Not Intuitive

While going through the training it appears very straightforward, in reality I find it very cumbersome and seems in need of an upgrade. Here’s why:

The scanning feature works less than half the time. Typically reads a different number than the total on the receipt, causing you to have to go in and correct. Same with the population of the names of the business. Normally that is not right either. Does seem to be better when you capture an electronic receipt versus taking a picture of one.

Wallet feature is very clunky. Having to move expenses back and forth to change, difficult to add a receipt. I find some things are easier to do on the mobile app than the desktop version when completing an expenses report, so I find myself using both methods which again is cumbersome.

The auto intelligence feature of stating that an expense is a duplicate does not always work. Actually went in to buy a 12 pack of soda for an event. After my purchase, I received a phone call that they needed two, so I went back in the store and bought another one. I knew it would probably show up as an Duplicate expense “in red” and it sure did!

Getting constant emails on every expense is not needed in my opinion, as I receive enough email traffic. There may be a feature that allows you to turn it off but I haven’t been able to find it.

Having said that, the Help feature does work fairly good!!

I’ve used Concur in a previous job and found it to me be much easier!

Hi There! Thank you for the feedback. We're always working to improve the OCR scanning feature. Regarding the email notifications, you can disable those at any time by logging in to the web application and selecting "My Account". Bad

So many phony reviews in here to get their app higher ratings. My company unfortunately uses Certify now. The whole process is tedious and the app is nearly worthless, even the most fundamental of tasks are poorly oriented and executed. I only use the app when I absolutely must, like when traveling and do not have access to a scanner. Biggest gripe, why can I not simply attach a receipt file and put it directly into an expense I ported for my CC. Instead I mist make a separate upload, fill the information out (because the auto populate is worthless) and then sync the two together, tedious. Has potential but simply inconvenient and too many steps involved. I’m fairly techie so I can usually make it work without incident but other coworkers I can see it being an absolute nightmare. Seems Company’s are doing this to discourage you from submitting some of your lower dollar purchases or deter you from using a company CC. If I needed to purchase something for work and it was say $10 I would just pay out of pocket rather than deal with the tedious time consuming nature of this app and desktop interface.
