Getting started
You’ll need some data to download the app for the first time, but data charges no longer apply when using the SA app itself. If you have a connection, you can do your banking!
Transactional features are available to Standard Bank accounts held in South Africa, Ghana, Uganda, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Lesotho, Malawi, eSwatini and Namibia. Keep in mind that some types of payments include transaction fees.
Note that some features may not be available in your region.

My heavens, do you people test updates?
What the heck! Test your updates before you send them out. Can’t view most of my dashboard items, or the have just outright disappeared. Frustrating. And when trying to delink something it says it’s already there. This app was never great but it got the job done. Now it’s just barely doing that and causing frustration.

Good app but has annoying flaws
This app is great and does exactly what I need it to do, except the transaction history is not accurate and not in time order. For example, I made a few purchases on June 30th, which reflected on my transaction history. Then 3 days later I made another purchase at a different shop which reflected but the previous purchases are being shown as more recent and their date seems to have changed too. I’ve noticed this has been happening on my online banking statements for the last 4 or 5 months but it was never a problem before then. Also when I tried to report this problem using the app it wouldn’t allow me to.
Does not work with IOS 13 and Fingerprint or PIN security
Since upgrading to IOS 13 and then 13.1 the app fails to get past the login screens on an iPhone 8, just reporting an ‘Internal error’. Reinstalling the app does not work and getting hold of Standard Bank on the phone is a waste of time and money, holding on for 18 minutes is unacceptable. Neither the Discovery Bank or FNB apps have a problem on my phone, nor does anything else that relies on fingerprint authentication. Reporting the issue via e-mail is almost as useless, with an eventual reply asking for authentication details that you need the app to obtain, which is counter intuitive.
