Description

A long time ago, when dragons were still flying above the castles… When true knights were often fighting for damsels in distress… When magic was not just a word from some old and dusty fantasy book… Back at that time the game called Demons vs. Wizards was popular in many taverns scattered across realms, which are long forgotten nowadays. As magic and sword duels were forbidden in most of the inns and taverns, this magic card duel game was the only way to settle the scores with an annoying young wizard, some bully stranger or even a travelling demon.

Demons vs. Wizards is a 5-10 minute turn-based card and dice game. It is so simple that even a small kid can play it without reading a complicated manual. You can either challenge your friends, or beat the computer controlled opponent to test your luck for today. Two players can play on the same screen, so it truly feels like a real tabletop card game.

Features:

• Simple and easy

Start playing without even reading the rules! The game is suitable for all ages. Each duel lasts for 5-10 minutes, but there’s no doubt you will want more.

• Fantasy Atmosphere

Beautiful fantasy atmosphere and music make you feel like playing a real magic card game on a real table in a real fantasy tavern.

• Multiplayer

Exciting card duels across the internet. Doesn’t matter if Demon vs. Demon or Wizard vs. Wizard: No limits, just strategy and fun!

• Beautiful Retina Graphics

Highly detailed crafted cards make you feel as if you hold the real printed magic cards. The cards are equally beautiful on all iPads and astonishingly sharp on the new retina display.

• Real Dices

Dices and coin look realistic, and you can even use them this way by simply pressing on them for any other purpose.

Pretty Good Overall But Lacks Depth

Easy to learn and offers a quick but highly entertaining card game. The game is a little heavy on luck but it is fun to play a bunch of games in a row. The game only offers 2 deck types, this could be expanded to improve the depth. Overall glad I gave this game a shot.

Fun, Quick Playing Card Dueler

As a simple card battler, this gets the job done. The presentation is very well done, it's fun, fast paced, and very easy to learn. The gameplay is similar to something like Arcomage, where you take pot shots at your opponent using your preconstructed deck of cards, continually depleting their life/shields and buffing your own. I like the luck element this game brings in with coin flips/die rolls determining whether damage occurs and how much. It brings a little excitement to the table.

Unfortunately, the game's biggest strength (simplicity) is also it's biggest weakness. There is no deck customization, no new cards to aquire, and no new ways to inject life in the formula. The lack of depth will cause people to burn out quickly on it. The wizard deck and demon deck are also very similar, I assume to maintain balance. I'd love to see some new cards or new decks with different, interesting powers. Also, the game only supports local play and play vs. the AI - this game desperately needs an online component to give it some legs.

I think with a little TLC and support from the developer, this could go from a fun little diversion to deeper, yet still accessible, experience.

I like this!

why has no one reviewed this? it's a fun little game! they advertise it's quick to learn and play but, well, i hope in an update you can up the life points so i can play longer! it's fun to see what card you'll be hit with next and i wish it could go on longer! the game looks great, plays smooth and it's strategically fun and challenging.

here are a few thoughts (not complaints) I had as I want this game to get even better!:

1) people might not know but you can double tap to enlarge the cards in your deck, but it's kind of finickey. Often you have to find the exact spot to tap before it works. maybe you can adjust that a little.
2) when the game ends and i lose it would be nice to see "how i lost ". the game ending pop up blocks the last card played so i don't know what it was. it would be nice to see what did me in!
3) some of the cards can get REALLY powerful like when you double the next card and then roll a 15 on the 20-sided die! I was beaten in my very first game in one roll. I didn't even get a turn! I'm wondering if it's possible (or practical) for that to be toned down a little.

thanks for the great game!
