GrubSouth 4+

I found the use of the app itself very simple and easy to use. Overall the app is not my reason for the 3 star rating. The service on the other hand deserves less than 3 stars. If I were a bedridden person this service would be a great way to get some takeout. Since I am not, waiting almost 2 hours and paying over $50 for cold take out was not how I imagined this service. We wanted to give it a try with so much local advertising, but it really was not worth it. I also did not care for the implied 15% gratuity, on a cheaper tab I could see offering the runner that much but when it’s cold, expensive and took almost 2 hours; No it is a way overpriced service. My pizza guy can get it to me in less than an hour I’ll give him $10 for my Hot pizza. I honestly considered canceling the order about an hour into my wait and just go pick it up myself. Cut the wait time in half and I might try this service again. Until then I will be deleting this app and keeping my car keys on standby.

I consistently used GrubSouth over other services because I appreciated that it was locally focused and on par with the prices in other delivery apps (not anymore). They ask you to rate your experience and leave comments after every order - I’ve put suggestions there that are just never read. Customer service is either responsive or completely unhelpful. I still have an email about moldy cupcakes from 2 years ago they never answered.

There’s no way to sort the restaurants by delivery fee, distance, etc. They don’t display the star rating or any reviews for the food, so you just guess what’s good (and it doesn’t always pay off). The delivery times are closer to an hour or more no matter when you order (weekend vs. weekdays and times of day). Often my order has been “delayed to keep my food fresh” and it just takes even longer and is cold anyway. On top of that, the app is glitchy and/or slow every time I use it.

Now the fees are $5+ for nearby spots and $15-$30 for things that are 15-20 minutes away. Won’t be using GrubSouth anymore.

I’ve used the website and the app and they are both so user friendly! I work across the road from one of their supporting restaurants. I can place my order, set my pickup time, and promptly pick up to return back to the office.
