Does its job… kind of

Mobile deposit wont work about 50% of the time. Transfer menu is confusing. No way to name sub accounts or external accounts. Separate card manager app is obnoxious and confusing as well. Also, it’s crazy that all of the debit cards from Ufirst now look identical. I have 3 separate checking accounts, and all of the cards look exactly the same, with no option to customize card images. I’ve literally had to write with sharpie on each card to let myself know which card belongs to which account.
These are nitpicky problems I know, but I’ve talked to many other people who feel the same. From what I’ve seen most other credit unions don’t have these issues. Ive been with University for a decade, and I want to stay, but I really miss the old University Credit Union app, and the old online banking system, and the old cards.

I first app needs work

I like having an app that I can access my account information. I wouldn’t really encourage though that the banks somehow make sure that the balance is showing on the app are the correct balances numerous times I’ve gone to use my card in a bind to find out, I’m being declined, even though my balance shows available credit every week this happens. I know university credit union had an option where you could see your balances without having to log all the way in. It can be viewed just by clicking on the app as well as choosing which balances you wanted to view. I would really like that option back again it is annoying when I’m driving and I have to wait to stop in order to login and view my account balances, or if I’m in a hurry, I end up putting in the wrong password or are you login which sends a fraud alert to my phone. And then the balances that I do see most the time are incorrect. It’s actually getting to the point where it just tracks charges for me but I have to wait 3 to 4 business days for it to actually show the correct balance which makes the app kinda useless.

Frustrating UI

Frustrating user interface, navigation is not intuitive. Bill pay feature is (??) still on the old interface? Their old app was much more user friendly, workflow was intuitive. Their new app feels like it was built by a start up company with no “banking” UX experience. The design is “cute”, but functionality and workflow feels like it was programmed by folks that either have minimal real life banking experience, or don’t bank in the US.

I also cannot stand how difficult it is to cancel a lost or stolen card. This feature is critical. The new app makes you go to a completely different app to manage your cards. I lost my card (after business hours of course), had to call their customer support and was on the phone >1hr either on hold or redialing their number because we lost connection twice. I’ve used UofU CU for decades and this new app is the reason I’m leaving. I gave 2 stars because the landing page is nice, Zelle works great, and their in-person branch tellers are wonderful people who deserve accolades.
