Description

Autism iHelp is a vocabulary teaching aid developed by a speech-language pathologist and parents of a child with Autism. Autism iHelp was inspired by the need for specific language intervention tools for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder focusing on their unique strengths and difficulty with expressive vocabulary.

Autism iHelp – WH? SLP Edition includes:
-Complete versions (without in-app purchasing) of all 3 WH? sets.
-Ability to track several students at a time.
-Two voice options - male and female.

This app includes 144 questions chosen based on established expressive language milestones.
Autism iHelp - WH?' SLP Edition address a very specific area of higher level language need in the Autism population. Through routine learning, children learn labeling of concepts. WH?'s require incorporating more abstract thought and generalization in regard to the learned concepts. Children with Autism often have difficulty with this particular skill, and Autism iHelp - WH?'s apps are an excellent way to target a vital educational benchmark in a mobile capacity.
“with Autism iHelp…..it gets better.”

SLP review

The program doesn’t allow you to choose or skip questions. You have to pick answers and wait for the voice to repeat the answer and say, “great job!” before you can go to the next question. This is tedious and you can’t select which questions to use. Also, the questions come in sets of 8, which doesn’t help with data collection. It would help if they had questions in sets of 10 or just had all the “what,” “where,” “when,” etc. questions grouped together (i.e., all 25 “who” together) instead of in smaller sets. Let the user answer how ever many questions they want (up to the max for that question type) and let the progress report track accuracy along the way so that you can stop after any number of questions and see the percentage and fractional accuracy. Don’t require complete sets of 8 to show the percentage/fractional accuracy. It would also help if the user could preview and choose which questions to include and which to exclude.
