Description

This app is part of the new Responsive Design interface of Tecnavia's Bluebird interface.

This app improves the reading experience on any iOS device. It is more enhanced than viewing with the Safari Browser.

Readers can quickly navigate the entire publication using iOS multi-gestures. Swipe to browse pages or sections or tap a live headline or page number to reach your favorite article. A thumbnail view lets you scan all the pages at once. To read a story, just tap to zoom the page image, or tap to article mode and read the whole story, including jumps, in the text window at the font size you prefer. The e-Edition will also let you easily find topics using the section and story index, or find any ad or story via a full text search of words contained in the copy.

Just open the app to get the latest edition for on-line or off-line reading. You can also access back issues that you might have missed. To use, just download the app and select your publication.

Wall Street Journal

Absolutely love the replica version of the actual paper instead of the news feed of headlines type of format. However, there are some technical problems that are annoying. The page turning swipe is way too sensitive. When scrolling down while reading, the slightest motion off center causes the page to turn. Also, there are random occurrences where it doesn’t recognize me and boots me out and demands logging back in. It occasionally just blanks out and resets while reading. Last week it was having problems downloading each day’s edition. It would get to about 75% download and then bomb out.
I use PressReader for the New York Times and it is much more user friendly and reliable.

No Full Page View for Text

I use three apps to read newspapers on my iPad mini. The best of the three is the Olive app I use for my local paper. Second is the Press Reader app I use for The NY Times. This app is a distant third. The primary reason for this rating is that the app does not allow a full screen option when viewing an article in text mode. When viewing in text mode, half the screen is always dedicated to the digital replica view and half to the text. I don’t understand while you cannot utilize the full screen for text mode and then close when you have read the article. On an iPad mini, you have to continuously scroll the article text when only half the screen is used. Bluebird developers, please take a look at the Olive app used by Hearst newspapers to see how easily you can enter and exit full screen text mode.

Great app for virtual newspaper reading, but . . .

The Technavia app makes my newspaper reading seamless, efficient and enjoyable! I love being able to zoom in or out on a page and quickly jump to the next page(s) in an article. Lately, however, I've been unable to forward selected articles to myself or colleagues because the site to access them (once the link to the article has been forwarded and you try to open it from your email) is not secure. I would hope Technavia could address that soon. That's a very helpful feature and it's been frustrating not having that feature operational. I'd rate it 5 stars if not for that.
