Description

The Old Time Radio Streamer is a very simple a straightforward way to listen to OTR streams. With a simple user interface and a simple featureset you should be able to start listening and enjoying fine Old Time Radio content very quickly. We have added a simple fade-out timer as well so you can listen before bed and not worry about turning it off. There are alot of other apps that do similar things, however none as simple and straightforward and even better, ad free.

Great selection, instant connections

I had a previous 5 * review but changed it to 1* when the app went off the reservation after the iOS 12 update, when it refused to connect to servers. I can’t edit my old review to get it back up to 5* - so I’m trying to make up for that by sending the “all clear.”

The gist of my other review is that the app has a few flaws, and my wish list would be to add things like buffering, but the value added is 100x the detractions.

Aside from the attributes in my title, there are no ad servers to slow it down, interrupt play, etc. When I want OTR and I want it NOW(!) I always default to this app. There is ALWAYS a genre or an episode available instantly. Unlike a popular live radio app I use, I am literally listening in less than half the time and it’s easy to interact with in the car because basically the only thing there is to click on are the numerous presets. Apologies to the developer for my downgrading the app in my old post, and many thanks for fixing this!

Wonderful relaxing

Really enjoy being able to just shut my eyes and listen to a radio play from yesteryear. Takes some imagination. Only one time did I sign on and the menu of station offerings not match what was being broadcast. Every other time, it was perfect. The menu is a great asset in finding exactly what you want to listen to (Boston Blackie, Sherlock Holmes, or big band music, etc--and I'm talking about a lot of stations). If I could only have one app, this would be it.
I must have written the above a long time ago. Lately of the very many “stations”, about 33, only 3 would connect. I was going to give a low rating, but now, today, June 24, 2021, every station is working. I sure enjoy listening to rebroadcasts of WW2 broadcasts, Boston Blackie, Dragnet, and miss them a lot when the stations fail to connect. I repeat, if I could only have one app, this would be it.

Thank You, Ed! Quick update vers. 1.3.6

This is THE go-to app you will want for every day listening, trust me.
When Apple did an upgrade last week, all of a sudden the app was unable to connect to streaming audio. Within just a few days, Ed Zakeski had an update fixed and back online for his MANY appreciative app users.
Its said that you don’t realize how much you appreciate something until you don’t have it anymore. As a disabled guy that doesn’t get out very often, I love listening to lots of different OTR broadcasts several hours daily. Classic movies are my other treat. After several years of doing this, I can tell you this is THE premiere
app you’ll want. It gives you the most variety by presenting many online streams in a simple format similar to a radio or TV guide. The programs are constantly changing, giving great variety without any hassle. Just tap the stream you want. There you go!
