A diverse high-fiber diet promotes a healthy gut microbiome and lowers the risk of many diseases. These diseases include obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, sleep apnea, high LDL "bad" cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, some inflammatory diseases, some cancers, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's dementia and Parkinson's disease. Fiber also improves gut function, lowering the risk of constipation, diverticular disease, and hemorrhoids. Use this app for a diverse high-fiber diet.
Set your daily fiber intake (based on guidance provided in the app) and your preferences for weights of food (g or oz) and display of fiber content in foods and beverages (ie, %target/serving, g/100g or g/1oz, or %target/100g or %target/1oz)
Record food and beverage consumption using the barcode scanner, speech recognition, or by favoriting foods and using the serving sizes provided (which can be changed at any time).
Monitor daily and long-term progress, export data to share with healthcare providers, synchronize data with other First Line Medical Communications Ltd nutrient counter apps, and share data with Apple's HealthKit.
The app’s 328-item curated food and beverage database displays all 211 plant-based foods in green type to help users consume the 30+ different types of plants per week recommended by experts for a healthy gut microbiome.
The app also allows users to add their own foods and recipes, and offers nutritional information through the Info tab.

Way too basic and generic

This is am updated review. My husband was recently put on a high fiber diet. This app gives a generic number of fiber based on age and sex. After I couldn’t get the fiber count to set to what my husband’s doctor wanted, the company sent me directions. I as able to change the fiber count. I will still have to add any store bought high fiber foods, but I feel this app will now be usable. The list generated on the app is very basic.

Developer Response ,

To change the fiber intake to that prescribed by the doctor follow the instructions on the Settings screen - ie, tap on the 'Fiber target' box, which takes you to the 'Your target fiber intake' screen. Tap in the box labelled 'Daily target' and key in the number (of g) on the keyboard that appears.
The app is curated and contains 325+ common (mainly healthy and unprocessed) foods and drinks and the user can add their own branded and other foods and recipes at any time. This means the app is standalone, does not collect any personal data, and does not require access to the Internet.

Difficult at best

I feel that I have wasted my money on this app. It is difficult to navigate even after reading the instructions several times. I have not been able to do what I need to do, which is simply to determine the amount of fiber in foods that I have eaten and to get a total of my daily intake.

Developer Response ,

The app has been redesigned using new Apple technologies. The foods and amounts you eat can be recorded easily and quickly using the barcode scanner, speech recognition (touch the microphone icon), or by favoriting foods and using the serving sizes provided. The serving sizes are mainly those suggested by USDA Food Data Central, but can be changed at any time. Your progress towards your target daily intake will be visible immediately in real-time.

Not Impressed

I'm sorry I spent money on this app. It is VERY confusing to navigate. I am unable to locate the button that allows me to add a food. Also, I don't normally measure my food in grams. I am unable to figure out how to choose ounces as my measure unit. There is no "home" button. I'm sure glad I didn't buy the whole bundle!

Developer Response ,

The app has been redesigned using new Apple technologies. The foods and amounts you eat can be recorded easily and quickly using the barcode scanner, speech recognition (touch the microphone icon), or by favoriting foods and using the serving sizes provided. Use the "Settings" tab to select your preferred units for food amounts — g (metric) or oz (Imperial). Add and edit “branded” and other foods, drinks and recipes not provided in the app by following the instructions on the screens accessed via the “Add food” tab.
