The Inventory module is a fast and fun way to manage your cross-stitch stash. Charts, threads and linen can be added with just a few clicks. Note: Chart details (names of chart, notes, etc.) are manually entered. X-Stitch comes pre-loaded with hundreds of chart designers and over 22,000 thread selections that you can quickly and easily add to your inventory. XStitch

What a gem of an app!!! I started inventorying my Stash after my mother passed away ... she, too, was an avid stitcher. She was a ‘stitch on one project ‘til it’s finished’. After she passed, I inherited all of everything she had as my sister does sewing & quilting ... not counted cross stitch, counted thread or hardanger. I’ve been working on this consolidation for some time. I have scrutinized all magazines & charts so I can sell in today’s market through Facebook: Stash Unloading - Cross Stitch Only. FlossTube has opened up the horizons of the calming & soothing aspect of cross stitch & the ‘need’ to share our usual solo experience of needlework. XStitch has been a pivotal basis for my personal organization & knowing what I own ...

Just use excel instead

I did a lot of research to see what a good cross stitch iOS app was, and this one was mentioned multiple places. Trusting that and the numerous 5 star reviews, I paid to download this app. Its nothing like I expected, and honestly unusable to me. Possibly there was a recent update that caused a lot of bugs? But it seems more like it’s not been updated in a good long while - it’s on me if I missed that. Moving between screens is slow, and sometimes almost impossible as the bottom navigation buttons are the same color as the main screen. Adding thread is time consuming, if there’s a way to bulk upload, it’s well hidden. After adding something to my journal, I discovered that the background isn’t solid or consistent at all - anywhere you enter info is subject to your light/dark mode settings. Just the background though, the text color doesn’t change at all making it impossible to read anything you enter. Thankfully it was only $3, because it’s worth less to me than the free thread tracker excel file I got offline.

Pros & Cons - X-Stitch App

It's a great way to catalog your finishes which it what interested me most about the app. Adding in my projects, finished or in progress is easy peasy.

As for tracking inventory - it's ok. Once you add a designer to your chart inventory it's simple enough to add additional charts under that particular designer. Adding threads is cumbersome at best and I can't bothered with that hassle.

What I would like to see is an option to delete designers you don't want/have in your collection and the same for threads. There are far too many designers and threads in those lists that I find scrolling down my screen to be tedious and annoying.

Additionally, I'd love to see an option to categorize your charts. For example: I'd love to be able to see at a glance what Halloween charts I have on hand. Also I'd like to be able to filter my finishes - by year or by designer - instead of just one long list alphabetized by design name.

It's not a bad app, but there's potential to be so much better. I'd love to see more customization as to what items (designers, threads, linens) appear. Because of this inability to delete items that are not applicable to me, I don't see me using it much beyond a journal of my finished projects and inventory of my charts.

Is it worth $2.99 price tag? Not quite. I'd gladly pay that and a little more if the features I've referenced were integrated into the app.
