Description

The #1 app for learning the fundamentals of tai chi. Train with tai chi grandmaster Li Jian Long. Easy to follow.

A step-by-step approach to learning tai chi with authentic roots in traditional Chinese martial arts. In under two hours, you can have a solid overview of tai chi fundamentals, including correct breathing, postures and movement terminology. Have a true master of tai chi as your own personal training partner any time, anywhere. Find your flow with moving mediation.

SCIENTIFIC APPROACH
This app uses a technique for teaching tai chi that has been used by Master Li now for over 30 years. He has found that students who learn the 18 qi gong (or breathing meditation) set before tai chi actually learn the tai chi much better and have a stronger understanding of body mechanics and flow in the movement.

The app follows a scientific progression of
1) short warm up
2) breathing qi gong exercises
3) tai chi basics
4) short tai chi practice forms
5) and finally the 24 step Yang style form

Eight levels give a seamless progression to learning the 24 step tai chi form. After going through all 8 levels, you can choose your own training regimen to suit your schedule. Practice and learn at your own pace any time, anywhere.

CUSTOMIZED TRAINING & PROGRESS TRACKING
There is an 8 level progression that teaches basic postures, breathing and fundamentals of tai chi. After unlocking the 8 levels, you can tailor the training to your own needs and skill level. The more you use the app, the more refined your technique becomes. The eight levels give a seamless progression to learning the 24 step tai chi form.

Great app but needs some refinement

I really like this app VERY much but its functionality could be improved by allowing the user to access any segment of the tai chi lessons or qigong lessons automatically instead of scrolling through these sections manually.

I think the developers had the right idea by requiring a user to go from the very beginning, step-by-step until the end. However, once that is completed, the user should be able to go back to any section easily for review or additional practice, instead of having to scrub through chapters/segments, which tedious.

Love it

I always wanted to learn Tai Chi but where I am, there are no classes to be found. Books and DVDs were not helping. I like this app because it goes slow enough for me to pick it up, but not so slow or incremental that I do not understand it or how it might fit in with other moves. Plus, I can take it anywhere, have even managed to prop it up at eye level to maintain form. The inability to skip to a portion was annoying at first, but it forces practice with the preceding motions, which I suspect only helps when pulling everything together. Plus, point of Tai Chi to me is slowing down, reducing stress, increasing controlled breathing and controlled but fluid movements. I am looking forward to reaching the 24 form.

Good but needs improvement

I love that I can watch and do the motion track. However what I hate is that I have to go through the entire 18 sections if I want to practice the 18th section. And say I did it partial it doesn't show anything for daily participation. I'd like to stop half way into the lesson and resume the next day. Or maybe the same day practice a routine more than once very specific to a section. I also don't know if I need to mirror the teacher or if it's already mirrored. Will I be learning all of this opposite? It would be great to have a side view of the teacher enabled as well for some hand extension movements to see what the side profile looks like.

I still like the app. But would hope for some updates :)
