The magazine earned my subscription, but the app...???

As several others have noted, the magazine itself is the best of its kind. Photography is A+. Step-by-step instructions are A to A+. Diversity of approach and styles is excellent. The Beattys are terrific, particularly if you tie flies to sell. My absolute go-to writer is Bill Logan, because he writes as much about “fly thinking” as he does about fly tying or fishing.

Now, for the app: This one is Striding Confidently Into 1994. It does not work, after it downloads the first issue of your subscription. I am on my third go-round with their customer “service” department, and NOTHING has improved — after months. It will do fine if all you want is to buy and download older issues, but it will not fulfill the subscription.

Recommendation: Download the app, DO NOT subscribe, and buy the issues one at a time, as the new ones show up.

There are plenty of high school students who could fix this app’s issues. Please, Fly Tyer, hire one of them.

Works well

Maybe the app has been updated, but I find the navigation to be quite simple and straightforward. Tap on a cover to open the issue, swipe left and right to turn pages, tap a page to bring up the menus. Pretty easy. Excellent content.

Hard to use

This app is hard to use and navigate. It’s in desperate need of a makeover and more clear navigation options.
