Great for books!

This is great for books and podcasts. However, CarPlay mode for podcasts needs a lot of improvements. New episodes are not displayed. You have to start the podcast in the phone and then continue to listen on CarPlay. No way to see new episodes in CarPlay mode. Also I have noticed that podcasts won’t resume automatically if paused by maps or any other apps.

The phone experience is amazing and very polished.

Hey Bibin, thank you for your Feedback!

I'm actively working on the CarPlay implementation! The bug that caused podcasts not to resume after interruptions has been fixed with the 1.1.3 update released on Monday :)

Beautiful UI, a few missing features

This is THE Audiobookshelf app. It has an absolutely beautiful UI. The official Audiobookshelf mobile app feels cluttered, slow, and old. This app is great, and it mostly works well! There are a few features that I miss from the Audiobookshelf official app that keep me from using this app. Primarily, I wish this app had a slider for fine-tuned control of playback speed instead of a select menu. I like to listen to my audiobooks at occasionally 1.3x or 1.4x speed, but I can not do that with this app.

Over all, it's amazing, but the most important part of an audiobook app -- the playback -- is lacking features. With that one feature I'd be sold.

Developer Response ,

Hey leeandjack,

thank you for your feedback! I know it's not exactly what you asked for, but there's already an option to define custom values for the playback speed (Settings->Change Playback Rates), maybe that works for you? You could just add 1.3x and 1.4x there to have them appear in the selection menu within the player.

I've haven't put a slider for the playback speed as I'm trying to keep the interface as uniform as possible between the iOS app and the CarPlay interface (which doesn't support draggable sliders for safety reasons).

Feels very professional

The app feels and works as good as something like audible great job there!

I would have liked an option to ignore untrusted certificate warnings on an https connection when setting it up since I use my own internal CA but I just installed the root ca on to the device to bypass that.

Developer Response ,

Hey Mack, thank you for your feedback!

I definitely see how using HTTPS locally can be annoying when self signed certificates are not trusted, but I feel like installing the root certificate is the more elegant and secure solution.
